The fan spins freely. as soon as I have access to the laptop again I
will test the voltage going to the fan to ensure the MB is ok in that
    regard.

Reinstalled Ram as described.
Left back panel off during start up attempt.
Noticed CPU fan was inoperative.
Suspect CPU and BIOS chip overheated and damaged.
Both use the same heat sink.

Clean first its ram module edge connector with soft eraser. But disengaged first its battery, power source and completely shutdown.

Then put it back and try to boot. If this doesn't help let me know . Leave a comment.

Is it stuck up? Or hard to spin using a finger when the unit is off? Coz if it does. It calls for a repair shop already if I may suggest.

CANDY CLD 135-86S will not boot, blinking lights two

More than likely you have a memory or video card issue.

Whenyou plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the computer?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the computerand why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when youhear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is withthe memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note oftheir pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. Maybeyou have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, then Press andHold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the powercord back in and hit the power button to see if it boots. Maybeyour memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.Removethe Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set thechip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you knowthe memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and tryrebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put theother chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just toverify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the openmemory chip slot and try booting.Maybeyour power supply is bad. Sometimes there is enough power to make thepower light or some other lights come on but not enough power to make the fanturn on or hard drive spin.

When i turned on switch dell vostro 230 it give no display and led colour is red

No Display, so does it seem like the computer booted up and is running except that the Display is black? Do you hear fans running, disk drive spinning, blinking lights or beeps?

I'm going to assume that in your case since you mentioned a red light that it is not booting up all the way. Therefore your problem is probably with the memory, the video card or some other motherboard issue.

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Power light is blinking

Count the blinks and the pattern of the blinks (3 long blinks, 1 long blink followed by 2 short blinks, etc.).

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the screw and cover that houses the memory and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. G61-306NR power button doesn't work

Disk Drive works, Memory is good, so any Blinking Lights or Beeps when you hit the power button? Does anything ever post to the lcd screen when you press the power button?

It sounds like either you've got a memory issue or a video card issue. Just because the memory worked in your friend's computer does not mean it will work in yours. Your Slot where the memory goes might be bad.

Acer laptop no disiplay

No display on either? Does it sound like the computer completed the boot cycle? Do you hear fans running and the hard drive spinning?

What happens when you hit the power button? Do you hear any beeps or see any blinking lights? Does anything post to the screen during the boot cycle?

If the boot cycle completed and you see no display on either monitor, then your video card is bad.

When i plus up my laptop the power lights come on but it doesnt post or screen comes on.

Check the hard drive activity light; if it is active at power on, look at the display from an angle to see if some ghosting of images is visible. If so, the back light for the display or its inverter may have failed.
If you have a friend you can borrow a monitor from or use briefly, connect it to the VGA (D-15 connector) to see if you have any video output. If you still see nothing, turn off the power and access the memory in the laptop. Remove and return any memory cards and try it again.
If you still have no boot, it will need technical help since this could indicate a failed motherboard or CPU.

I have a Boot Problem with my INTEL P4 3.0Ghz. 800Mhz FSB,1M L2 Cache, Socket 478 CPU

I have experienced something similar with my new Core2Duo processor and a fairly new Socket 775 processor. Troubleshooting it led me to believe the CPU simply wasn't compatible with the motherboard. Although it's a shot in the dark, I suggest that you try out some of the following: - Did you try pulling out the graphics card to see if you got it to POST then? The graphics card or the monitor may need replacing. - Did you remove the RAM? - Are you sure all cables are attached properly? - Try to take out the CPU, talk to a friend with a socket 478 motherboard and replace his CPU with your CPU. Does it work now? If yes, motherboard needs to be replaced.
