Phillips Magnavox 60 inch Projection Tv

My Roomates and I just picked up this TV and were warned about some color issues. The problem is that the picture is somewhat foggy and has a reddish tint. We tried playing with the color options but only could make it worse. Is there anything we can do to make the screen normal? Thank you in response to this message.

The color has a greenish tint and doesn't change when tint is adjusted to the "red" side.

If your model# is 9p6040c104 then the repair kit will solve the problem. You can order the kit from TVrepairkits.com ( Shrinking and Expanding video or no video kit --cost $53.00 plus shipping. It comes with all the instructions to make the fix easy. Also if your video is cloudly and discolored then you should also purchase the Lens fluid kit--$ 69.00 It also comes with instructions on how to remove the old fluid and replace the new fluid. It is a lot cheaper than having a Tv repairman charge you an arm and a leg to fix the problem you can fix yourself. Just follow the instructions and good luck.

Foggy picture is caused by lots of dust on top of lenses on the three color projectors which can be cleaned with a soft lint free cloth. Be sure and unplug TV! Take back off and while you're at it vacuum out all the dust around power supply (bottom of TV), might stop the pulsing when you turn TV on. Capacitors can still hold a charge and lenses will be hot so let the TV sit for a few hours before cleaning and vacuuming. Do not try and adjust anything inside of TV that's for a trained technician to do! Don't forget to plug TV back in after you finish cleaning and have everything back together.

That model is famous for having bacterial contamination in the CRT coolant causeing halos, and dim pictures with bad overall color issues. You can look into the lens of the CRTs when the set is laying and if the coolant looks cloudy or has any growth there you will notice it right away, and changing the coolant will restore color, clarity and brightness.

Model ds31590 screen has a reddish purple tint whether it s on tv or video i have already tried to change all picture settings and set back to factory settings still has same problem, here is an example...

Chances are real good that your picture is showing its age. There are three color beams in the neck of the picture tube. When these electrodes are operating correctly the will produce an arc, that will produce the proper voltage for color correction. Much like the spark plugs in your car. When you have a fouled spark plug, you replace it. In the case of a TV, replacing the tube is the best way to correct the picture you are looking for. It would be to costly to do this of course. Another option is to rejuvenate the picture tube. Once again, rejuvenating the picture is last resort. Customers must be warned that rejuvenating may work or even in some cases destroy the picture tube. I want to remind you as well, the symptoms you describe will over work the main board as well. This TV is not feasible for repair. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

The color is all red.

I want you to do a simple visual check of something that will tell me what the problem may be.

Go to a channel that is in black and white--old movie and tell me what color the screen/picture is.

You can also turn the COLOR in the customer menu all the way off and look that way.

What we are trying to see here is if TRACKING is set correctly or has changed. If the screen is somewhat to medium reddish it may be an adjustment outside of the customer menu.

Let me know what you find--I have seen several of these where the black and white picture was somewhat red--the idea is it should be as close to black and white as possible--if red is the predominant background color the picture will look reddish.

If this has helped and you confirm the red instead of black and white picture--I can tell you a easy way to adjust this.

If this information told you something you did not know and helps you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Sony KP-53HS30 Projection TV has pink and blue hue w/timer blink

Depending on your TV, you may have a Color Temperature (Color Temp) and/or Hue setting in the menu. Use these options to adjust the picture to the setting that best suits your viewing preference.
If your TV has a Color Temp setting, you will normally have the following options to select from:
  • Cool: Gives the picture a cooler, slightly bluish appearance.
  • Neutral: Gives the picture a neutral, more natural look and appearance.
  • Warm: Gives the picture a warmer, slightly reddish appearance.
If your TV has a Hue setting, follow the appropriate step below to make adjustments:
  1. Move the setting to the right to reduce the reddish appearance.
  2. Move the setting to the left to reduce the greenish appearance.

Check the lamp, that can cuase that condition. If the lamp's glass looks foggy somewhat or it might be broken inside that will be the problem.
