Generally, the keys on a portable keyboard are non-repairable. The keyboard is a Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) and if under warranty, Dell should send a replacement, If out of warranty, Ebay is a good source for a keyboard and they generally run about $20

Need to reset dell inspiron e1505 laptop how do i do that

Hi, shut down the system. Then start it up. Right after pushing the power button to start it, hold down the CTRL and keep tapping the F11 key(for XP). If you have Vista just tap on F8(no need to hold down CTRL). A symantec recovery application(PC Restore) window will start up. just follow the instructions on the window.

To access the same recovery within windows.Type c:\dell\utilities\dsr\ and run Boot_DSR.exe. Then click YES and the system will reboot into the PC Restore without having to press any keys.

But if your HDD has already been reformatted and the recovery partition for has been deleted, your only option is to reinstall windows from a Microsoft Windows XP installation disc.

My Inspiron 1505 will not type the letters h,t,c and e in e-mail only unless I put on the cap lock then hit the shift key. Any ideas what the problem is?

The potential is you have what's known as "sticky keys" turned on. Check accessibility options and make certain it is turned off. Those letters are used as shortcuts for various actions in different email programs- I suspect sticky keys is the problem.

Which key are they talking about when they say hit the del key

DEL is Delete. Usually found in a cluster with Insert, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down. With the Dell 6400 E1505, these are on the upper right hand side of the keyboard. (The "half" with the two rows of keys instead of 1 row of function keys.)

I hope this helps.

Left shift &caps&tab not workingon delle 1505

Please go to start menu> then programs> accessories> accessibility> onscreen keyboard. Open a notepad and try to type using the onscreen keyboard. If the keys are working using the onscreen keyboard, then you need to get the keyboard replaced. You can contact Dell if your system is under warranty.

Hi,
You should be able to restore the system from the recovery partition on that model laptop.
Shut down the system. Then start it up. Right after pushing the power button to start it, hold down the CTRL and keep tapping the F11 key(for XP). If you have Vista just tap on F8(no need to hold down CTRL). A symantec recovery application (PC Restore) window will start up. just follow the instructions on the window.

Regards.

Touch pad key popped off

The touchpad keys have tabs on them, chek to see if a tab is broken off. If so, you will need to replace the entire plastic bezel containing the touchpad, the keys are built into the plastic bezel, and aren't made to be replaceable.
