What is the tv remote code for sony trinitron tv kv-9pt40

actually there is no set code for your model number. if you buy a sony remote is all you need. but if you bought a universal one than look in the manual and try all the codes for sony if that does not work then you have to program it manually. but go and buy a sony brand remote. all sony remotes work with all sony tv so you do not have to program it.

Do i need a converter to watch model kv-9pt40 tv

Can't find the specs but i presume it's an analog NTSC set. You will need a converter to convert the new off air ATSC digital format and if you're on cable, unless they are still converting to analog, you'll need a converter there too. Some cable systems (Comcast being one) will require their own cable box to index the digital channels and convert to analog ch 3 or 4 for your TV.

120VAC dead

There should be a small fuse on the circuit board inside the tv. Sometimes the fuse is soldered direct to the board and not in a holder. Hope this helps you,,, Mechanic

It would not power up

You should open the TV and look for a blown fuse near where the power cable enters the set. A lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace. Check the fuse. If it is blown, it will be obvious and make sure that the set is unplugged before replacing it. If it blows again, or if it is not blown, your problem is probably in the 'X' volt regulator and you will need professional help with the repairs. You can also check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. Brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced or buy a new one. good luck!
