Compressor hmms or moans on refrigerator when it cycles

"the freezer part of my refrigerator cycles now with a loud off and on hummm up and down what should I do"

In the past before this is used to make a howling sound off and on. I unloaded the icemaker and that didn't help.. It just sounds like the motor struggles. It is only 4 years old. My manual says that high pitchedd hum or pulsating sound while it is operating is norma.. for a high efficiency compressor. It really did not do it so much in the beginning. Should I put less food in it or clean the condenser? How do you do that? Thnak you for your help in advance.

There is a fan behind freezer compartment upper back plate. it could have ice around it,panel could be shoved against it by food. you just have to empty freezer and remove panel to know for sure

Constant loud noise when frig turns on/comes from bottom

when the compressor is running unplug the ref. and if you hear the noise coming from the compressor then
a ballance spring may be broken inside the compressor.

The compressor will run normally with a broken spring it will just be annoying when it shuts down.

Kenmore top freezer, Refrierator shuts off with loud clunk.

It sounds like you may have a compressor that is working hard against high pressure due to a dirty condenser or a condenser fan not running or blocked. If all is well otherwise, the mounting springs inside the compressor may have broken or are weak. The only fix then is a new compressor.

At only one year old the compressor had to be replaced. Now when it cycles there is this whirling sound that is loud enough to keep you awake. What the heck is it? That noise was not there before.

Not as much as likely the compressor again. I think your fan inside the freezer or under the refrigerator may be hitting something like ice or the housing the fan blades spin in. Could also be the blades are loose or out of balance. The only way to track it down is open the freezer and listen or move the refrigerator away from wall and take the cover off of the compressor compartment and look and listen. I would not like that noise myself. If you need anything please let me know. I'm here to get you fixed, Thanks Sea Breeze. Oh if this is helpful please rate me thanks.

Refrigerator Compressor has loud vibration

Clean the coils. what you are hearing is the valves as the pressure equqlizes. Also make sure that the fan by compressor is on while compressor is running.

Condensor sounds like it moans for a couple of seconds instead

Hello aeruslady1,

Do you mean the compressor? I'm sure you do. The condenser is the hot refrigerant line that comes off of the compressor.
It just sounds like you have an old compressor. I have seen them make noises for years before they take a dump. If it continues to run loud even after it starts however, then you may need to clean the condenser coil or replace the condenser fan motor. Another thing that might make it run loud is some refrigerant lines may be rubbing against something. This can be remedied by bending the lines.

Hopefully this helps.

Sincerely,

Freezer moans

Got a tape recorder or video camera?  Tape it and then call the service guy.  Then if it's "not" acting up when he gets there you can show him!  I did that once...it works.

GE Stainless Steel Side by Side - Loud Huming and Whoosh noice

you should not hear it from that far away. It sounds like it may be compressor related. The only thing you could check to make sure is remove the lower rear cover and check the condensor fan and listen to the compressor to see if thats where the noise is cmming from. Check the fan in the freezer too.
