Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer

HAving trouble printing

I haev recently bought a new ink but I only bought black and not color. Everytime i go to print something It says that teh following ink cartiage cannot not be recongnized. Color.

    Your Welcome. My printer doesn't want to work and it has the Alarm light on, and on the little screen it says check Ink U051 .. Color

Do you have the On-screen manual for the Canon Pixma MX310?

Go to Start>Hover on All Programs>Canon>Canon Pixma MX310>
On-screen manual.

Look under Troubleshooting. The first heading is ->
An Error Message is Displayed on the LCD<-

Click on that heading. In the chart shown under the Message heading ->
Check Ink U051/U052/U053/U059 ,and under the Action heading it states ->
The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly or the Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine.
Open the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) and install the -> appropriate FINE Cartridge.
If the error is not resolved, the FINE Cartridge may be damaged. Contact your Canon service representative.

(I went to Canon Support just now, and downloaded the Canon Pixma MX310 On-screen manual)

You purchased a Black ink cartridge (No.40), and have installed it in the -> Color cartridge place. At least from your information stated, this is what I understand.

The Black ink cartridge goes to the left side, the Color cartridge to the right. Do Not install a Black ink cartridge, in the Color cartridge holder. It won't work.

    Ok check the printer head see if its clogged with out more information how do you want me to help you, then you gave me such a poor rating i know its not working yet but at lease one down from fixya will do for my reputation thanks.

    Okay that means somethings is wrong with the print head itself. And that would need to be looked at thatnks for the change in the ratings really helps us do our job!!!

Display shows " REPLACE B-CRT " only in FAX mode. It works perfect with no message in COPY mode

Under your printer preferences there is a way to print gray scale. SO even if your image is in color, it will print black and white. Every printer interface is different, but when you go to print, there's usually a properties or setting button that will bring you to another page from the initial print menu. here is where you would choose gray scale.

If you try for black with only a color cartridge, it'll come out a dark green or blue color. Or on some cases, it will tell you it's out of black and you can't print.

If you installed new cartridges in teh color slot and it will not print from the computer in color, go into the printer setup menu, a button on the printer should take you here, and print an alignment page. If this fails to print correctly, select to perform a deep cleaning. This will use a lot of ink but will insure your nozzles are working correctly. If nothing prints or the color still isn't correct you will need to either manually clean the nozzles or have someone clean them. To be honest, depending on the cost of the printer it maybe more cost effective just to get a new printer than to have your manually cleaned. As inexpensive and printers are today I don't even replace cartridges anymore except for the black one. When the color runs out I get a new printer. The printer runs 35 to 39 dollars the color cartridge runs 35 to 37 dollars. But I don't do a lot of color printing. It is a choice the individual has to make.

Ink cartridge replacement


I had the same problem, and after scouring around online for a few days, I learned that this is one of the biggest gripes about this printer. Basically, you're out of luck unless you replace EVERYTHING, even though you only want to print black (nuts, isn't it?). So I went out and bought all new color cartridges, and it STILL won't print. I think it's just a bad printer all around. :(

Just bought lexmark model X2600m, thought it was black/color printer/copier/scanner but seems it is only color, is it suppose to print in black and color or just color????


i have one too but you have to but the ink online because it is a fairly recent model.
the ink is number 14 black i believe.and it does print in black.you dont need black ink to print in black altho is does guzzle colored ink when making black.ink is about $20 +shipping i think.

Canon i960 will not print in black ink


Yep same as above. Black prints very light gray after 5 years of good printing. Tried every test, replaced black cartridges with different brands. Just wondering if somehow you can clean the heads. I'm convinced the black head is almost totally clogged. Does anyone know how to remove the printer heas to do this?

Can we print with other three Color ink cartridges when Black Ink cartridge is emptied?


hi,

as u have ran out of ink you cant print anymore... you have to replace a new ink cartridge.... this is because when u print something, the colors will get mixed to print the exact color.... even if u are printing only in black, some other colors wil get mixed to produce the black color on the paper... so u need to change the ink cartridge.... u cannot run with a blank filled ink cartridge.... and the selection of your printer is very good...

Lexmark X75 printing difficulties


if the black was empty you would notice the difference in the pictures as well, but if the word print is black, it wont print in colour it's supposed to print what you see.

Colored Ink problem


Make sure the printer settings are set properly to print in color on the PC. Even if there is a color cartridge, if the PC only tells it to print black ink it's not going to use the color cartridge.
