Manual directions say to place phone in 'Standby' when setting up. Manual does not say how to place in standby.

So, if the receiver is in the cradle it is on standby. I am not technically savy, but that makes sense.

Then the Manual talks about sub-menus, but does not tell how to find a sub menu

When you select a secondary option after the first one - you are now in a sub-menu..... see the following...

    1. GLOBAL SETTINGS

    • Handsets

    • Add Handset

    • Delete Handset

    • Answering Machine

    • Set Greeting

    • Set Timestamp

All the bullet points are sub-Menus in this example.

Each Sub menu may also have its own sub-manu.

Define "standby" mode.

Hello,

The standby mode is a power saving feature. In this mode, a it does not shut down completely, just goes to low power state and so it consumes less power. When it resumes from the standby mode, full power is restored.. During the standby mode, if the power supply is disconnected or interrupted, data might be lost.

Hope this helps,

Lucas

Tip

Standby

With the Nokia N70, there's an 'active' standby screen. Don't just take the shortcuts given, I'm sure you have ideas of your own as to your most used applications. You can change any of the five shortcuts in the rather-hidden-away 'Tools | Settings | Phone | Standby mode | Active standby apps' (Phew, you really have to get to know the settings hierarchy on these devices!)

How do i remove icons from my standby screen nokia 6700 slide they are no calender entries today and share your photos thanx

The only way to do it is to set the contacts bar as the standby theme (menu>settings>settings>general>personalisation>standby mode>standby theme), then go back into the standby mode menu, into Home screen applications and untick all the boxes. You are left with the shortcut bar along the bottom of the home screen, and nothing else. Nice. And stupidly complicated. Thanks Nokia.

Standby mode is when you're not doing anything with the phone and it's just waiting for someone to call.
