Question about Epson Stylus 2200 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Which printer should I use

Hi, I'm a screen printer and I have an Epson R2400 that I use to print (black ink only) vinyl films to expose my screens with. I started off with an Epson 2200 and it was a nightmare, it clogged constantly, never worked great, and the head finally went out. I just replaced it with the R2400 mentioned above and the ink is really expensive for it, especially when all I use is the photo black for all my prints. I'm having second thoughts about my new printer, it seems like it's a bit overkill for what I use it for. My question is which printer is more reliable as far as clogging and ease of use? I would prefer to use the 2200 because it has a (black ink only function) but I had such a bad experience with it originally. "It could've had something to with the fact that I originally bought my 2200 off ebay and it had sticker on it that said (Las Vegas police Department)." Please help, there is another 2200 on craigslist in my town that is nearly new for $150 and I'm thinking about purchaseing it. Thank you, Aaron-

I don't know anything about screen printing, but is there a reason that you can't use a monochrome laser printer for your Black and white...The cost per page is at least 15-20 times less! Especially if you go with HP and get remanufactured cartridges from a reputable source.

Epson stylus k3 r2400

Hi Lisa
The R2400 has the choice of two black inks, MK and PK. One is for Matt printing, the other (called photo black) is for gloss.
If the printer has the matt cartridge fitted it only allows suitable options, including paper choice, to be selected. If you change the black cartridge from the MK to the PK one, you should then have the choice of gloss paper.
