Question about Kenmore 53642 / 53644 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

No cooling no freezing puddle on floor

Kenmore model 59562998 made in 1999 . There is no water in the pan underneath, it is bone dry. Looks like the water came from the very front of the freez side of the side by side

would that keep it from cooling/freezing... I hear no motor noise at all but the lights are on??

  • monicam5 Apr 23, 2009

no ice build up..I hear no motor noise but the lights are on?? I actually replaced the fan last year and it was working this morning although I could tell nothing was cooling and evrything was melting

  • monicam5 Apr 27, 2009

the model number is 10659562990 I replaced the defrost timer. Got it at a Sears parts place...it was an 8hour timer the one i took out was a 10 hour...anyway when plugged back in still nothing only lights no motor noise or compressor noise...been waiting on a repair person from Sears to show up for $65 ...just to trouble shoot...any help is greatfully appreciated...

  • monicam5 Apr 27, 2009

No the fan is not on...I did replace that last summer. When I replaced the defrost timer it had an extra black wire that I thought was a ground wire and I left it lose. because there was another ground wire already attached to the wire harness. maybe I should have attached the black wire some where? I think I had motor noise before I started messing with this... I am a try it yourselfer...everyone tells me they would have called a repair person...I still believe someone here can help me...

  • monicam5 Apr 27, 2009

the repair guy also told me the black wire does need to be connected and showed me on the directions what to do with it...but also like you suggested I put the old one back in..but I'm going to try the new one again hooked up right this time...I'm really missing my refrigerator...thanks for helping me

  • monicam5 Apr 27, 2009

Thanks everybody after a few long minutes it is running and working great...It was the relay switch that attaches to the compressor...the original defrost timer is back on. I couldn't believe it took it so long to start running?? More details in my other post in case someone else has the same problem...I really appreciate everybody answering my post..Have a great week

Your defrost drain line is frozen over. Turn off the fridge and defrost the drain in the lower rear portion of the freezer.

Is the compressor fan motor running on the rear?

    steve Apr 27, 2009

If the fan at the compressor is not running there is probably no power going to the compressor from the thermostat control or the defrost timer.

Find the defrost timer and turn it a click or 2 and see if it comes on.

I just re-read your notes. All the wires on the defrost timer must be connected.

If you still have your old timer re-connect it and tell me what happens.

Hello, it sounds like your condensate line is clogged and not be able to drain into the condensate pump or your condensate pan is cracked and leaking. Best thing to do is clean the condensate line with a shop vac and see if the water will start to drain, if not looks like the pan is cracked.

Water puddle on floor from inside refrigerator could it be defrost heateris bad? water accumulates in the bottom of freezer and freezes seems to come out of evaporator/fan location

unkink the drain hose...I just opened up the back of my Frigidaire Side by Side counter depth to find the drain hose was bent and collapsed coming right out of the bottom of the freezer and the pan was dry as a bone. It doesn't look like my drain hose has ever drained a drop of water. The freezer bottom is full of ice And the rust and chipping paint under the bottom of the freezer door along with the mysterious puddles of water every morning means the drain system definetely never worked. Frigidaire should be responsible for this. This, along with the ice maker rebuild I had to do,... after ice was spilling all through the fridge. I actually had warrantty left on that one and called customer support in India to find out I could make the repair myself. Yep I had to do it. Frigidaire you failed.

Water leaking frigidaire frs23h5as

yes remove the rear panel in the freezer where you see the drain hole. Clear the ice from the drain hole. It will take a while for the water to start to drain because the ice is deep in the insulation. A small tube is helpful to draw some hot water in and stick in in the drain hole and squirt the hot water down in the hole.
