Install windows xp3

I hope you mean SP3(Service Pack 3) on XP. Please follow these steps

Do one of the following:

  • If you downloaded SP3 from the website, to install it immediately, click Open or Run and follow the instructions on your screen. To install the program later, click Save and download the installation file to your computer. When you're ready to install the service pack, double-click the file.

  • If you're installing SP3 from the Service Pack 3 CD, insert the disc into your computer with your current version of Windows XP running, and the Software Update Installation Wizard should automatically appear. If this wizard doesn't appear, click Start, double-click My Computer, right-click your CD or DVD drive, and then click AutoPlay.

  1. On the Windows XP Service Pack 3 page, click Next.

  2. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

  3. After the installation is complete, click Finish to restart your computer.

  4. If you disabled your antivirus software, enable it again.

Problem running Civilization IV with Windows Vista

Okay, i play Civ IV on my system and i run Vista as well. Your best bet is the tweak with the compatibility. Find the install folder and look for the .exe that launches the game (civ.exe i think, don't hold me to that though). Right click on it and click on properties, then the compatibility tab. Try dropping the compatibility to win xp and see if that helps. If it doesn't, post your system specs and we'll work from there

WOW SP3 was the culprit!

Here are several links to read and decide whether to use SP3 or not. I personally created my own SP3 cd from an SP3 iso file and installed it on my systems. I have not encountered any problems .(knock on wood)

New and Enhanced Functionality in SP3:

Networking
"Black Hole" Router Detection: Now, this detection is on by default and is for detecting routers that are silently discarding packets. This feature is also available in Vista
NAP Network Access Protection: Policy enforcement that protects networks. It is now included Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP SP3. Available in RTM (release to manufacturers) version of Vista

Security
Descriptive Security Options User Interface: More descriptive text, hopefully this will provide better explanations of options.
Enhanced Security for Admin. And Service policy entries: All new policy is present by default and after authentication cannot be removed.
Microsoft Kernel Mode Cryptographic Module: A new Kernel module that fixes a known problem with Microsoft's cryptographic application.
Windows Product Activation: Users can now complete the operating system installation without providing a product key. The keyless install option will allow installs of XP SP3 to proceed without using a product key for 30 days. This option is also available for Vista SP1 will not update your Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 7. But it will update either your IE 6 or your IE7. From what I've been able to tell so far, the same is true of Windows Media Player. The update does not install the current Media Player 11 as a part of the fixes or additions.

Per PC World:

"Since SP3 was supposed to be mostly a bug-fix/patch consolidation release, the unexpected speed boost comes as a nice bonus," Barth said. "In fact, XP SP3 is shaping up to be a 'must-have' update for the majority of users who are still running Redmond's not-so-latest and greatest desktop OS."

Good luck,
Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

On March 6, 2008 Microsoft released Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. Service Pack 3 contains all of the important Windows updates from previous service packs as well as additional updates that were released after Service Pack 2. To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 from the Internet on a home desktop computer use the Windows Update feature. CAUTION: If you have an HP Pavilion, HP Media Center or Compaq Presario desktop computer that has an AMD processor, your PC might encounter a startup problem after installing SP3 (or SP3 will not download from Windows Update). Before attempting to install SP3, install sp37394 - Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility for systems with AMD processors . You will need to update windows to service pack3 first. Then once completed click "start" and open "control panel" and then "Add Remove programs-software" Scroll through list of installed software and identify all and only the office related components "select" each component individually then click "remove/uninstall" Remove all previous installed office components, starting with the smallest sized file to the largest, once completed restart your machine and try the office install disk again. See below for service pack three download info and links:

Xp sp3 wireless not working properly

You can try this WPA patch for SP3

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=009D8425-CE2B-47A4-ABEC-274845DC9E91&displaylang=en

If this does not work you can revert back to SP2 by

Click start then control panel then go to add/remove programs. Look for Service Pack 3 and remove

If that does not work you can also do a system restore by

Click start then run then type in msconfig
Click on launch system restore.
Restore to a date before your SP3 update.
Note: All other installations after this date will be lost
Your files will NOT be lost
