LG CU500 cell phone Call Divert Set problem

Phone worked fine until firday 9/21/07 - then showed a blue binaural headphone icon (not the bluetooth icon & not in the manual), wont let legit calls come in or out, but continues to redial ad nauseum the last number dialed. rebooted by taking out battery & sim card; reset today; blue icon is still there & it continues to redial last number. HELP!!!

InAzone - no, not solved. called LG. they said to talk to carrier ATT. ATT sent another phone out with return instructions to return the bad one. after they look it over, they'll let us know if or how much we owe to repair it.

I am having exactly the same problem, mine just started today. I noticed the icon turns off temporarily and the phone works fine if i press on the plastic plug where a headset would plug in. But after closing the phone, the icon comes back on and the redials start again. DRIVING ME CRAZY!

  • GTadlock Nov 28, 2007

dear guest & seamusyams: we tried all sorts of things & finally called LG. they said they could take it back, look it over for 6-8wks, & then return it repaired at a price in excess of $150. OR we could go to our carrier (cingular/att) & tell them about it. we did that. they gave us a new/refurbed phone & an RMA to return the bad one to LG. LG would take 6-8wks to access any probs & then would bill us any charges they feel were our fault. we havent heard a word from them. so we are back to being ok again, free of charge.

we found the icon to not be in the manual at all either. so far so good, with the replacement phone & no word from LG if there are any repair charges on the old one.

Same problem with it dialing while it goes to headphone mode so you dont know its calling people. I did check all the options, that plus is screwing up the correct operation of the phone. I did pull the card and did check all options here.
I have another problem too, I go my phone online and I can't send it back through the web people, I reported them to the better business bureau for charging me, 6 months later for the heck of it $300.00. Acted like I ran my credit card threw...geez.....So what do I do about getting a fixed phone ?

  • guybo_4 Dec 29, 2007

Same problem here. Called LG and they said to see AT&T store to reset phone.

  • ludvardi Jan 08, 2008

That head phone symbol came up and wouldn't go away. And the phone would call the last person contact at random times for no reason. Then it started to have problems with the audio going through. We noticed if you pushed on the headphone cape the phone would call last person contact. So we turned the phone off, cleaned the cap and took battery out. It still didn't work once phone was back together and on.

  • The issue is caused by the phonejack/memory chip assembly, located in the upper right rear of the phone has become unseated/loose and is causing your issues. I had the same problem and after I took the phone apart and put the assembly back in position, I eliminated the problem.
  • If you are not mechanically inclined and/or have access to small tools and an open area to work in, do not attempt!!!! There are numerous small parts including the side buttons and keypad and the above mentioned assembly that are exposed when you seperate the two sections that make up the back of the phone. If you attempt the repair be extremely careful to note the position of parts before you take it apart and make sure they go back in correctly. It is a bit time consuming but doable.
  • If you feel you can't do it yourself I'm sure that there are some online options for repair or perhaps a local repair shop that would do the repair. Good Luck

Check Menu 5>9>1 for the Call Forward settings. Sounds like you have changed the Divert all calls option. User Manual is here if you need it; Best of Luck.

The solution suggested worked! Was quite simple if you have a small screw driver and are careful.

Before you do the multistep procedure below, you might try removing the battery, and microSD card (if you have one). If you stick a flat tool into the microSD slot and try to apply downward pressure to sandwich the slot against the rest of the phone you might be able to re-seat the daughter card without disassembling the phone. If that doesn't work - follow the steps below

I performed as follows:

  1. Powered Off Phone and closed phone placing bottom up.
  2. Removed battery, micro SD card, and SIM card
  3. Using a sharp point, I removed the upper two rubber stoppers on either side of the camera (you can leave the one about 1cm down and in as it is for an external antenna.
  4. Removed six screws (4 in compartment, 2 behind rubber plugs) with a small phillips screw driver.
  5. Holding the phone with the back up, I slid my thumb nails up the sides starting at the charger connector to remove the back plastic cover. There are two snap connectors approx 1cm from the top and bottom of the phone.
  6. I didn't have to remove the buttons for volume/camera.
  7. After removing the plastic cover, I removed the smaller board with the female 2.5mm audio jack and cleaned the connector.
  8. During reassembly, I was careful to try and guide the female headset jack into the plastic cover so as not to push too hard on the end of the smaller circuit board and recreate the loose connection again.
  9. Everything snapped back together, I reseated screws and assembled phone and whella.

Solution posted by Golf4me was exactly right! It worked for me and was technical but not too difficult for savvy do-it-yourself'ers. To soniadee, the instruction to 'replace the part' does not mean buy a new one, it means remove the part and reseat it correctly. It has pins similar to a PC chip, but they are very short and do not lock in place well.

Music won't play on my bluetooth headphones.

If your handset does not support stereo music on blue tooth headset, then you can not hear music on blue tooth head set. However you are able to answer and make calls through blue tooth headset.

Blue Tooth Stereo Headphones and KRZR

From what I can tell and after researching the same issue it is the KRZR. I called both Verizon tech support and my bluetooth tech support.
There is no solution
If you notice some of the functions in the Blue tooth Pairing/connection menu functions don't even work. (The on off for instance and the settings) After it is paired. I tried my bluetooth with other phones and it works fine.
I am going to the Verizon store to complain untill i get a different model.

In short the KRZR software is defective
