If you replaced heating coils, and did not space them out properly, they could have went bad again. A weak spot in the coil breaks, and falls down, touching the good one and burning out both of them.

Check power supply. (breaker) Door switch would be next. If the timer runs, you may have a broken belt, ceasing to turn the motor and rotate the drum. The old GE commercial machines used to have a limit switch that would cause the motor to stop if the belt broke. This was to prevent fires, motor burn out, etc. If this dryer is fairly new, you may have this same safety set up on yours.

I HAVE kENMORE GAS DRYER SERIES 80. last week dryer would heat for a minute then go out. Dryer would spin with no heat. Wnt to appliance store told me to change heater fillaments that one was bad after...

Your ignition unit may be worn out and will need to be replaced. Generally, a heating element comes on and once it reaches a certain temperature, it ignites the gas pilot. Then the heating element cools off because the gas is now burning and producing heat. When this heating element stops working correctly, it will not reach the right temperature to ignite the gas. You'll need to have a professional perform the repair. If the dryer is still under warranty, this might be covered.
Check your owner's manual.

I hope this solves your problem. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice!

Kenmore 80 series dryer. was working fine, now

Hello. When ever a dryer will not turn the first thing to suspect is a broken dryer belt. lift the top on your machine and visually inspect the belt. If it is broken, it is easy to replace. Joe
