I have Windows XP Home edition. The player is a Philips, GoGear Vibe Model # SA1VBE04K/17 in case you need that info. It came wiith a CD that includes Philips Device Manager, Media Converter for Philips and Rhapsody Media Player. I also have the Windows Media player already installed on my computer.

I just purchased a Philips GoGear Vibe portable MP3 player. I have followed all the instructions included on the CD that came with it. I have Windows XP Home Edition that meets all the requirements.
When I plug it in it does say new hardware found, but the wizard says it "Cannot install this hardware (MTP device) An error occured during the installation of the device. The system cannot find the file specified". I called Philips support to see if they could help me but they said I need to call Microsoft to have them change the driver info on my computer, that the hardware does not recognize it. Microsoft charges a huge fee for this so I am hoping one of your experts can assist me in this problem. Please advise. Thank You.

Hi, As far as i unserstand the main problem is of Driver. You need to get the driver of ur MP3 player. You can get the driver from your vendor and install the driver on your PC. This will certainly going to fix ur problem.
Thanks! Sandy

Hi Laurjer,
You have an Mp3 who is compatible with most stable Os - Windows Xp.
I have no IDEA why phillips refer you to microsoft.Believe me, even if you call microsoft they would refer you to Phillips. The problem is installing Drivers. If you might be able to download the drivers and uable to transfer songs, we can hint microsoft. Here, i am sorry to inform "This is a clear MISINFORMATION from phillips". ,    If you are unable to install drivers ( In case they are compatible with windows XP ), i bet you have a corrupt CD. This happens many times. If you have a corrupt CD, while installing or downloading you might receive an error.Call phillips and ask for a replacement and i am sure you would be able to run the software.
Note -  There is no role of microsoft as you are unable to Install CD.
I hope you would be able to take care the rest of the issue.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Do rate the solution as "Fixya" if 100% satisfied.

    Hi,

Also make sure you have updated XP. All security patches and all updates installed.

Go to Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Add a hardware at the left menu. Follow the instructions and it should fix itself. You might also need the mp3 plugged into the USB while doing this.

    Also,

Force PC Recognition in Windows XP:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

    Also,

    you must have updated firmware.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The above steps are normal steps, just for future help for all other errors. In your case, as "Windows is unable to find the specified file " - This refers - The file is either deleted or corrupted.

No doubt there are so many questions regarding microsoft, However you can only blame them when you receive error like " MTP already installed", 'Unable to find MTP"....You need to call microsoft.

For the error that you have "File Not Found" - There is nothing microsoft can do.

    Thanks.

My GoGear won't synchronize with Windows Media Player 11

You have to update the firmware on that particular player to make it compatible with Windows Media Player 11. Grab the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website, install it, open it, and click the "Update" button. It will erase all your songs in the process, but then your player will be fixed, and you can move on.

Philips GoGear SA6045/97 connection with pc problem.

You need to get the product key for Windows from your friend. The days when you can just load an OS from any CD an unlimited number of times is over. Microsoft Genuine Validation requires that you have a Product Key, and you STILL may have to call Microsoft to validate your copy, if Microsoft registers that an OS has been loaded from a single CD too many times.

Driver!

Have you downloaded Widows Media Player 11? That should fix it. If not, download sa6025_97_pal_eng from http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa6025_97/ and run it.

Our dell vista computer does not seem to show anything on our conputer screen to install. We just purchased our mp3.

Thank you for you follow through. As you may know we just purchased the mp3 as well as a computer and were not aware at the time that when a disk is placed in the tower to read we had to proceed to the computer set up and tell it to read the c driver. Within seconds the both philips device manager and philips converter were installed.

Now everything is a operational and we are having loads of fun with our new mp3.

Thanks again.

HELP!!!! Philips device manager will not repair!!!

Completely uninstall the Philips Device Manager.

Download the latest version from here:

https://www.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hdd082_17/hdd082_17_pal_eng.zip

Install the new version and run.

Select the repair option and follow the on-screen prompts.

Make sure you are using Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10. If you have Media Player 11 then you will need to uninstall it to roll back to version 10.

Your system may have upgraded to version 11 through Microsoft automatic updates.

Philips gogear

Windows XP has a native driver that will work - if your computer is not recognizing the device, then unplug the GoGear from computer, turn your GoGear off, and hold in the volume+ button. Reconnect the GoGear to your computer while still holding the volume+ button. After 5-50 seconds, Windows should say Found Hardware Wizard and will load/reload the needed drivers.

Otherwise, you may have to reinstall the installation CD (does not work with Vista) - it has a key component called Philips Device Plug-In which needs to be reloaded.

Problems with Vista and video transfer

First, download the latest version of the GoGear software on the Philips website (compat with Vista).

Second, go to the Microsoft website and enter ArcSoft Media Converter in the search box to get addl software that will make it compat with Vista.

Third, check and see if the same file has the same DRM license on both computer. SomeGoGear's only read files with DRM encryption; others only read files without it. Make sure the licesnsing is the same on both computers - the Windows Media Player with Vista may or may not have this feature (if it doesn't get a PlaysFor Sure program for vista on the Microsoft website).
