Question about Epson Stylus CX4200 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

I previously got my paper jammed in my Epson DX4400. I managed to pull the paper loose but now it feeds in crooked on the right side and won't feed in at all on the left. I have tried following the instructions on my imac for paper jams and now can't seem to get it to feed in - or if it does it just repeats the same mistake! driving me insane! Am not happy with this printer right now. Should i just get a new one?

Am sorry but your answer does not make sense to me! What is a duplexer? Never heard of it! There is a lid that is part of the scanner and then there is a second layer door.... which if i lift up i can then see inside and see the ink tray etc. There are no buttons on the right and left!!??  More confused than ever.

    Also- I have a DX4400 Epson Stylus... not a Cx4200!!!!

If you had a bad jam, that you had to forcefully remove, prior to getting that error message, then its possible that a Paper Jam Sensor may have been damaged or there must be a dislocated part on the feeding mechanism in doing so. Its also possible that you could even have a Hardware/Parts Failure, but no way to really know. If your Epson Printer is still under its origional one year Factory Warranty, then you can simply call "Epson Technical Support" and talk directly with a technician trained by Epson on your particular model of printer and they may be able to help you over the phone. To see available phone numbers for technical support, go on-line to Epson @ " www.epson.com ", or call the Epson Automated Support Locator @ 1-800-442-2110 [press 1, then 1 & following prompts]. If they are unable to help you, then you can call the "Epson Customer Relations Department", at 1-562-276-1311. Epson offers a Whole Unit Exchange, when the printer is still under warranty and that department can process the claim for you. They will send you a replacement printer, delivered to your house, in exchange for your defective unit. If your printer is out of warranty, then you will have to have a credit card to talk to the technical support department, because there is a charge involved. You can also e-mail the "Epson Technical Support Department", for possible help or advice, at www.epson.com and then click-on "Proceed With E-Mail". They state on their web-site, that they "will respond via e-mail within 1 business day

Check feed roller for contamination, fan the paper to seperate sheets and then make sure that you are using paper of the following standard:
Paper Type Thickness Weight Single sheets
(plain paper) 0.003 to 0.004 inch
(0.08 to 0.11 mm) 17 to 24 lb
(64 to 90 g/m²)

Make sure you are using paper supports and feed guides.

Paper i feeding wrong, it starts then backs up a

Generally whenever paper goes "crooked" it's because something is partially obstructing the paper path.
It could be a small piece of plastic, or paper from a previous jam that tore off and stuck.
I would suggest looking at the paper path (use a flashlight) to see if there are any obstructions and then carefully remove any found.
I've also seen where the side plastic has become broken, or has a sharp edge sticking out that will cause the paper to misalign.
Hope this helps!

Paper Jams

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Paper Jam

there maybe some obstruction on the paper path, inspect visually any sign of abnormality in this area, replacing the ink would not cause this.

it is touching something thats why t is crooked, either small piece of paper, dirt, caked ink, or hardened ink on the roller, feeding unit may have some plate mis adjusted, misaligned feeeding tray as well. try this

cheers

I had the same problem and found a small spring was loose and interfering with the paper. The Spring was on the right side as you look at the printer, near the bottom of the paper feeder. I took it out and it works fine, for now.

Non stop paper jams

I had this same problem. I finally noticied that the problem occurred consistently on the right side of the paper feed. I discovered that a little part along the right side of my drum unit (just inside the paper feed area) had disconnected and was loose inside the drum unit itself. Once this little part was placed back into it's rightful place, VOILA! Problem solved! Hope this helps!

disconnect the printer from the computer:

>manually feed paper using the paper feed button.
>observe, if the printer pulls only one side of the paper then it´s a hardware issue
