Consult your users manual for setting up either MAC Address Filtering, which will allow you to enter the physical addresses of your devices (unique like a fingerprint.)

AND/OR

Enabling Wireless Encryption (Wireless Security), which would require you to enter a pass code or pass phrase in order to access your networks assets.

Cant get WiFi conection keeps asking for password cannot remember it

Try resetting the router back to factory default, and set up again with a new password. What make and model of router are you using? Just ran into this issue with neighbors 2 new Kindles, which connect fine to my NetGear router, but will not connect to their Linksys WRT54GS router.

Keep getting kicked off

when sharing internet connection, it's all about sequence when turning it on... Sequence in regard to what's turned on first, second etc... Here's the solution:
1. Turn everything off... modem, router...computers etc..
2. Turn on the wireless router FIRST and let it boot up.
3. Then turn on the modem and let it cycle up...
This allows your modem to lock onto the wifi router.
4. Turn everything else back on...
You should be good to go without drop outs...

If the power goes out, simply follow this sequence...
It's all about the sequence!!

How do i set up my firewall so no one else can use my wifi

You don't set up your firewall to keep others from using your wifi. To secure your wifi signal:

- Change your SSID. This would be what the station names itself as. For instance, I can tell my neighbor has a Linksys router, because on my wireless card, I see "Linksys" listed. (Under your "Wireless" tab for your router - page 16 on the manual linked later.)

- Put in a password. This is NOT the router password when you first log in to the router settings (though that should be changed as well,) but a passcode for the Wifi connection - usually listed as WPA-PSK or something similar. WRITE DOWN what you use, both type and the password itself. (Wireless tab - Wireless security, page 17-19 of the manual linked later.)

- (Optional) Many routers have a choice for MAC address filtering. This has nothing to do with PCs, Windows, Linux or Macintosh. Instead, it's a physical address that is unique to your network card - think of it as its social security number. If you turn on filtering so that only your wireless card is allowed on, it will (attempt to) reject all others. (Now, of course, if your friend brings over his laptop, you'd have to add it manually to the router, so this might seem like too much hassle to you. Page 20.)

Once all that is done, have your wireless devices connect to the router. Make sure they log in - the information is different - and can get online, swap files, etc. Once they do

- Disable SSID broadcast. Your devices will still know it's there, but someone just wandering by won't. (Back to page 16, where you changed the name - Wireless, basic settings.)

The manual for your router is here:

Contant need top reboot the program

Do a wireless scan on your computer and out how many wireless access is in your neighborhood. More than likely that your router is sharing the same wireless channel number as your neighbor's. Go to your router and cheange to opposite of what your neighbor is on.

Hello! My laptop is not able to connect to my Linksys router.

Make sure that your wireless is not secure or you are entering the right password. Also check to see what channel that your wireless is set on and compare that to your neighbors around you. If you and your neighbor have the same channel number set that is your problem. Your neighbor is over powering your own router.

I have a inspiron 1521 and i have 1 bar from my nabors router and i cant log on but all my other laptops conect

You can use the wireless configuration tool on the other laptops to determine all necessary settings except one: the WEP or WPA key. Match your new laptop's settings to one that works. If you need the key, you'll have to ask your neighbor. If you don't need a key, you should not take advantage of your neighbor by using his internet without permission.
