Question about Panasonic AG-1980 S-VHS VCR

2 Answers

Panasonic AG-1980 I have not used this S-VCR for sometime now. However, when I load a tape it rejects it right the way. Nothing I do allows the tape to stay inside. Once a while I receive error code F06. Any help? I thank you Kosmas

Most likely problem is a dirty or defective mode switch. this switch tells the internal computer what position the mechanism is in. if the switch is bad, the computer is "confused."

Did you try cleaning the tape head of the player?

For some reason be sure all the gear or any mechanical inside the player is freely rotating.

Adjust the VCR tracking to get a good picture.

Panasonic Ag-DV1000 mini DV deck shuts down after inserting tape

When there's a problem with the drive mechanism of a VCR it will shut down to prevent damage. All operations of a VCR are controlled by a computer chip. This is told what mode the mechanism is in by a Mode Switch. If this is faulty it can cause the machine to play up. Sometimes a spray of Video 40 on the mode switch can restore operation. However it will not correct the problem if the mechanism has any damage on it.

What is HO2 message is for?

In many Panasonic models that means the tape did not withdraw when unloading. If this is the case then it could be the loading motor or mode switch that's the problem.

PANASONIC VCR DOES NOT LOADE THE CASSETT TAPE AND GOES OFF AS SOON AS I TRY TO LOAD THE C.TAPE.

VCR's have a thing called a mode switch. This tells the electronics of the machine want position the mechanical section is in. If it gets wrong signals then the VCR electronics power the machine down. These wrong signals are often caused by damage to any part of the VCR mechanical section. Perhaps in this case something to do with the carriage unit. But the switch itself can go wrong. A visual inspection inside might reveal damage to some part of the VCR.

1) I turn on the power and place a prerecorded

If it is not a bad soldering joint somewhere, it could be the mode switch. They can sometimes be cleaned with Servisol Video 40, but you might have to replace it.
