You may have a blown head gasket thatis pressurizing the coolant system-pull radiator cap off and put a pressure gauge on it and see if pressure goes above 17.5lbs-cheers Denny

SOURCE: Dodge Caravan 1990 coolant leak..

do not put water in your radiator. Use 50% mix of antifreeze and water or you will corrode your engine. Add coolant mix to cold engine. Fill the reservoir and the radiator. Warm up eninge while looking for the source of the leak. If lucky, it will be the lower radiator hose. Easy repair. If it's the engine block, big problem. Let us know what you find.

SOURCE: Coolant Leak/2003 Dodge Intrepid

This is a very hard question to answer, It depends on where the leak is. If it's something like a hose that is leaking, then it should be an inexpensive fix. If the water pump is leaking and defective, it will cost a little more due to the cost of the part and the labor involved in replacing it. I priced the water pump for your car at autozone and they had one for $99.99 with a limited lifetime warranty and they had one for $55.99 with a one year warranty. That gives you an idea of the cost of a water pump. This is all speculation, however, until I know where the leak is coming from.
I would suggest that you shop around at other repair facilites to get the best deal on the repair. Studies have shown that maintenance costs rise when done by dealers versus independent repair facilities, so it might pay to shop around. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. If you can provide more detail on where the leak seems to be coming from it will help narrow down what you are looking at insofar as repair costs go. Best wishes.

SOURCE: there was a leak in the coolant overflow tank of

it could be the thermostat but i lean more toward the water pump...if there is a mechanic real near by take it there. if not have it towed. so you dont overheat the engine..which could cause more costly problems....

SOURCE: i have a 2003 dodge durango that is leaking power string fluid

They do make power steering leak stopper although I have never had much success with it. I don't quite understand what you mean coolant lines for power steering because that I know of on your vehicle I don't believe there is a cooler for your power steering.

Procedure to release an air pocket in the cooling system. Hoping Fan runs! :P

Is there an air bleeder valve near or on the thermostat housing? Crack it open to see if air escapes.
Usually to remove air from cooling system, you keep the radiator cap off after filling, start the engine and wait until the thermostat opens and the car has reached normal operating temperature, then shut off engine, top up the radiator and the overflow tank, replace the rad. cap. Try that to see if you can get all the air out. If still overheating, do check the fans. Then could have the coolant system pressure tested for keeping pressure in the system and no leaks.

What would make coolant come out of top of bleeder valve on water housing on a dodge intrepid 2001 2.7

The same thing happene to me. i just replaced bleeder valve with a bolt. Take your old bleeder valve to hardware or auto parts store to see which type of threading you should get first. Goodluck.

Piece of **** car

I know what you're taking about and this is probably the bleeder valve housing on top of the motor. These tend to leak. You'll want to get the upgraded part from the Dodge dealer as the plastic ones are trash. Replacing these is not going to be fun and I would take this in to get done.

Heater problems

Did you bleed the air oout of the cooling system - Their is a bleeding next to the therostat housing.

1 - When the vehicle is cold remove the rad(tank) cap and top up the level if needed

2 - start the vehicle with the rad cap off and leave the car run until you can see that the therostat has openned(look in tank/rad) to see fuild flow then open the bleeder slowly to let any air out of the cooling system. Once you have coolant flowing out of the bleeder close the bleeder and install the rad/tank cap.

NOTE - Be careful with the engine running and hot Coolant.

You make need to bleeding system 2-3 time to get all the all out. Once all the air is out of the system you problem should be solved. If air returns to the coolant system have the system checked for possible head gasket leaking air into the coolant system

Leak

Thats a Dealer part only (if its the Coolant Bleeder). Last I checked they DO NOT manufacture the Bleeder "Block" (on which the valve originally resides on the stock bleeder). The new OEM product consists of the block (w/o bleeder valve) and your top coolant piping (which now is manufactured with the beleder valve on it - [on the piping itself]) that runs to the upper radiator hose towards the front of the engine and through the "V" of the block. Count on taking a whole day executing this. But can be done with all DIY hand tools. You will need to disconnect any and all sensors/lines in the way of the intake manifold, as it will have to be taken off while you replace the assembly as a result of Chrysler's wonderful new design for thier bleeder valves for the 2nd gen Intrepids. (Stupid Chrysler)
