Make sure you have reinstalled all drivers for all of your drives and what not. If you have, are there any notifications in Device Manager? To get there, right click on My Computer, then click Properties. Click the Hardware tab, then Device Manager. Hope this helps, or let me know what you find in Device Manager.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

My ntldr is missing how do i fix this?

If your NTLDR is missing there are two causes.

1) You are booting to the wrong hard drive and it can be reset in the Bios / Boot settings.

2) You have been hit by a Virus which has taken out you MBR (Master Boot Record). There is no access to your primary HD because the computer (BIOS) can no longer recognize it's file structure. You will need to do a complete Operating System install. Be sure to select a full format to remove any traces of the virus during OS install.

While on the Internet you probably fell for an update of download the was really a virus.

Hopefully you have created a System Restore CD so you will have your personal files and programs.

If there was a built in System Restore in a partition on the HD you will not be able to access it.

After re-installing your XP Pro SP2 go to Windows Update and get about 94 file updates, patches and security patches, including SP3. They will download automatically with a few questions along the way.

Xp service pack 3 key

Hi,

There is no "key" for SP3, its just an update.

Just click on the start menu and perform a Windows/Microsoft Update to install SP3 and then perform another update to update SP3.

Regards.

Your monitor is fine, the problem here is with your computer, and sounds like a virus. Time to competely reinstall windows, or have a tech look at the computer.

Got a new hdd 250gb sata the pc can't find it

I have the exact same system you have and have the same problem. Dell quit supporting that system as far as updates to drivers and BIOS updates before SATA drives became readily available.

The short answer is there is no way to boot to a SATA drive on that system that I have been able to discover. The BIOS does not recognize it as a bootable device.

What you can do is boot to a regular IDE (PATA) drive, install the driver for the SATA drive and Windows will recognize it. Place your Page file on the new drive and all your applications and data on the new drive.

It is not ideal, but I have managed to move the majority of files to the new drive and it runs quite well. You have to be diligent about installing new software to the new drive instead of the IDE drive.

There is a program you can buy for about $15 that will help you move applications that insist on installing to the boot drive called App Mover. I tried the free trial and it works quite well.

If you ever get a better answer, let me know.

HDD Reformatting

why not reinstall sp3 again for windows xp if it freezes then it might be looking for files that don't exist anymore. If the virus attatched itself to your files they may have been removed when you ran your virus software. you don't need to format to reload windows. Just simply do a clean reinstall on C drive.
