Do I need to switch to the high lift blades for my rear bagger to work right?

Yes. I use gator mulching blades during the summer. They won't bag a thing. The original/standard blades will bag some grass/leaves, if they are dry and not too dense, but they are prone to clogging. The high lifts work much much better.

I get mine on amazon. The shipping is free. LA145 48" deck. Part GX21785.

Where would we get as manual for the d170 john deere grass bagger

Try this link to Deere customer support:
http://manuals.deere.com/cceomview/OMM167392_B2/Output/Index.html?tM=HO
If that's not your model, look around - they do seem to have quite a few manuals online, and offer to sell you a paper copy if they don't have an online version. Good luck!

Bagger won't pick up green grass

There could be a couple of reasons for a bagger not picking up clippings. One could be a clog in the ducting or in the air venting from the catcher (if applicable). Second could be worn out blades that can not generate the power to move the clippings to the catcher.

If this is really helpful, please rate.

Why does the craftsman garden tractor model no. 917276030 not accomodate a bagger?? We are in desparate need of bagging the weeds as they are mowed so that they don't re-seed and more importantly, we have...

I modified my John deere with a chute from another mower into my cart, It works great and picks up 10 times more trash than regular bags, you have to use the pick up blades, I just fill up the trailer, and dump the whole thing in the burn pile. Then go get some more. Believe me, i could run all day and not clean the whole yard. The pick up blades have some power but they do get clogged now and then, i just unhook it from the deck and dump it out and get going again. Hope this helps.

Bagger problems

I would say is to run the mower at high rpm's and slow the tractor speed down and not take full cuts.
