I thought i might need a lamp for my mitsubishi tv--model VS 60607 when my tv is fuzzy when turned on.should i simply replace the lamp or is there something else i should try? thank you!

This TV is a rear projection television and does not have a lamp. It has three CRT color guns (Red, Blue, and Green). You have a convergence issue (the red, blue and green color guns aren't aligned properly) and it doesn't sound like a very big one. You should be able to adjust this through the CONVERGENCE Menu in ADVANCED SETTINGS.
More details can be found in your manual, here. The model number isn't exactly the same but I'm sure the process is identical or really close. The other option would be a bad IC (integrated circuit) for the convergence control. This is unlikely unless your picture looks something like this: captainhawk1_15.jpg

Blurred picture red and blue shadows

Hi,
Please run the convergence feature on your TV. Its giving you double image because the red, green, and blue guns are dis aligned. By running convergence it will realign the guns properly. You need to run the convergence feature at least once a week. Please note this is only for CRT rear projection TV's and I assumed it was. If it is an LCD rear projection, then there's nothing you can do to fix such thing, but call a repair person. But if doing the convergence doesn't fix the problem, you need to call a repair person. But I hope you won't have to refer to the manual on how to go about it
Good luck!

I can only adjust the red and blue convergenge, the green just sits off to the side and is a little crooked. any fixes?

You should only be able to adjust the red and blue guns. The green beam is fixed and should be located over or between the red and blue beams. The goal is to adjust the beams to converge and become a white light.

Without seeing your unit it is hard to tell exactly what it is doing. Because the beams are moving you probably do not have a problem with the digital convergence ICs but you certainly could have a problem with the digital convergence box. They are no longer available but can be repaired at http://www.moduslinkptstvboards.com . The part number is 23781985. Cost to repair $120.00 US. If the digital convergence board does not fix your unit you will need to try adjusting the ring magnets on the green CRT.

If the green is not between the red and blue I would adjust the center magnets on the green to move the green beam where it should be. Before moving anything note where the settings are now and write them down. The adjustment would need to be done with the set live which presents a shock hazard for a non technician. If you do not feel comfortable with the adjustment you should hire a technician to do this.

Thank you for using FixYa and for the great rating.

No Red color at all. The convergence feature does not work either. Lots of green and blue RCA Model D52W59

Red color gun has failed, which will make the picture over saturated with the other two colors(blue, green) the bad news is the three color guns need to be replace in a set(all at the same time) because if you only replace the red it will over saturate the older blue, green guns then your picture will be mostly red.Unfortunently in most cases it's not worth the investment, better off to purchase a new tv. Good luck !

you have convergence menus
Activate ……..MENU-2-1-5-9

Coarse Green Tilt
Coarse Red & Blue Tilt
the TV should have a Crosshatch or convergence signal

green done first to make it level
then blue and red to match the green

be carefull not to change any other setting other than the Tilt; because you can really mess up your convergence

if the menu adjustments dont do this for you:

you have a light box assembly inside the set that has the Red, Green and Blue Guns mounted on it: it can be mis alaigned as a whole causing what you are discribing. Also, you have a mirror that relects the guns onto the back of your screen: less likely but it could be misaligned..

Just be carefull not to touch any of the following:
wires, circuits, circuit boards, heat sinks, and especially the three Big wires that go to the 3 picture tubses... they have high voltage
the heat sinks could also be live .. Just be carefull !

make sure you have really good lighting and room to work and you should be able to fix this without a problem.

SONY KP-43T75 HAS ISSUES

Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.
