check blu ray dvd for finger prints or scratches. may need to clean the dvd disk with a soft cloth with pure alcohol or metho.

Have you been using this DVD player for several years? If so, there may just be residue on the lens inside, which keeps it from reading a DVD and causes it to freeze. Have you tried running a cleaning disc through it to see if that fixes the problem? Worth a try. ;)

Usually when a player keeps freezing on a single frame of a dvd, it means that the disc is scratched. When it "sticks", the dvd will usually stop moving (on the part of the disc with a scratch) and the remote will not work. First, look at the dvd and look to see if there is a visible smudge or scratch on the disc. Fingerprints are a common problem with dvds. I suggest you try to clean the dvd in case it is just dirty and if it still doesn't work, some companies make disc repair kits. You could probably find one at walmart or radio shack. My Memorex Blue Ray MVBD2520 keeps doing a 1 second freeze when playing regular DVD's....Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Does it freeze in play also? Might be an optical pickup issue and require a replacement pickup.

Its sounds like cpu/memory problem. the laptop can't play dvd while doing other things. Try to play dvd while all other application are close, if it doesn't freeze its a cpu/memory problem (inwhich case why should try to buy more memory)
