Question about Mitsubishi Diamond WD-65831 65" Projection HDTV

Intermitent Shot Off

My rear end projection Mitsubishi Diamond Series TV shots itself off while program is on and during commercials. We had a couple of TV repair technicians work on it but it still shots off by itself. What is going on please?

I currently am experiencing my 2002 Mitsubishi diamond series tv shuttin g of after being on for 3-5 minutes

Sounds like you have a cooling issue. Do you notice if the fans inside the back of the tv are running? If not then it's overheating and turning itself off to prevent further damage.
Also The next time it happens, before you just turn it back on, press the INPUT and MENU buttons on the front panel together and hold them down for at least 6 seconds. This should cause the front LED to flash a 2 digit code. If it flashes once, then twice, then pauses and repeats, it means that the TV's computer didn't detect a problem.

I get a pop up sign on my set that states..."The system is experiencing above normal temperatures. Unless corrected it will shot itself off..." The TV is next to an A/C vent. I have it off for 8-12 hours...

This seems it could be a temperature issue either the temperature sensor is malfunctioning or the cooling fans aren't spinning at the right speed or not spinning at all. It would be best if you check the owners manual and look for the system reset feature, this may work, or the other option would be to hit the reset button.

Could be a couple things:
The lamp is blown out,
capacitors on ballast or hyperboard, may be shot
or the door to the light bulb isn't close all the way.

do you get any flashing lights?

If its a rear projection TV. It sounds like the Lamp is shot on the projector, or is going. Look in the back and see if it is lit if it is flickering I would definitely suggest replacing it. If that doesnt repair it then I would ultimately suggest the optical engine which is the projector of the TV
