My daughter's GE Model JVM2070SK02 failed to shut off this morning which ignited a muffin that was in the microwave. She stated that she had been having problems with it that that required unplugging the unit to get it to return to normal function. Since the muffin "fire" there is no power to the control pad (no clock, nothing). Any ideas?

It sounds like a cook relay stuck closed and this is why it continued to cook. When the door was opened it should have blown the monitor fuse (which is how it is designed to for safety) so that it cannot cook when the door is open. Or, a cavity temp fuse was blown due to the fire inside. Also a safety feature.

SOURCE: Some buttons work, some don't.

The keypad may be bad. Most often they go bad due to moisture from cleaners being sprayed directly on them or steam from the cooktop when the vent fan is not used.

They can also go bad when the unit is stored in an unheated environment where there's a lot of air temperature change (hot during the day, cold at night, etc.)

It may also be some residue on the connections where the keypad plugs into the control board. Unplugging then replugging the keypad can sometimes clean them.

In other cases, a new keypad is needed.

SOURCE: capacitor burned out? horrible burnt smell.

YOUR GOING TO NEED A NEW MICROWAVE . the cap may be bad but the real bad smell you have is most likely the HV tranformer , if the magntron shorts to ground there will be a small smell if you dont pick up on that and your microwave is set to run another few mins the transformer will overheat and burn , then the fuse blows and the controls shut down . the end result , you have more parts bad than you have good . if you google " GE SPACEMAKER MICROWAVE FIRE ' you will see your not the only one , its getting to be COMMON . good luck

SOURCE: touch pad does not work, clocke does, nothing else works

Hi this will happen when the touch pad circuits become unstable and damaged, due to abundant usage or , old age.

simply replacing the touch pad will fix this issue.

I have a GE Profile Spacemaker 2.0, MOD Number: JVM2070SK02 Last week the thing stopped heating anything. Sounds fine, but won't heat. Any tips?

okay thats sounds like you have to take your microwave to a repair man.the HV capacitor can be open or the magnetron is bad these 2 components i mention are responsible for the heating of your microwave if they go bad..then your microwave wont heat.good luck.

GE microwave model JVM1750DM does everything except heat food. Worked this morning fine.

Chances are the magnetron has failed, "heats food" the other possibility is the high voltage capacitor and diode. Repairs will approach the cost of a new microwave oven.

FUSE BLOWN PART WB27X10388

http://www.appliancedepot.com/parts/parts-used/fuse-microwave-ge-wb27x10388-jvm2070sk02-jvm1871sh02.html

That is a supplier for you.
It is a semi surge sand filled ceramic fuse and the rating will be stamped on the end cap.
Hope that helps.

GE Microwave dead

Chances are the flames opened the oven cavity TCO, which acts as a flame sensor.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can also find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Accessing some components (cavity TCO) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
