SOURCE: inoperative touchpad scroll zone

I had the same problem, but I fixed it.

Click start, type "msconfig," go to the "startup" tab, make sure that "synaptics pointing device driver" is checked. After you check the box, restart.

SOURCE: Touchpad does not function

Hi,
It sounds to me like the touchpad drivers are corrupt and need reinstalling.
Go here to Toshiba support, download and install the touchpad drivers and utility and see if that helps.>>>>>>

My acer laptop 5742G not working scorlling

Check the touchpad driver in device manager: control panel>hardware and sound>device manager. Look for; mice and other pointing devices and expand the menu. You should see the touchpad driver here (synaptics or elantech) right click on it and click properties and check that its working properly in the general tab. On the drivers tab, click update driver and search automatically for updated software. If the driver is not installed or has become corrupted, you can follow this link to download and install a new driver: http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3278

How can i download the driver for acer aspire one zg5?thanks

Here is a great place to get all of your drivers for your lap top or any other for that matter this is where I go to get them. You will also need a free torrent software download program I use utorrent.com once you download the driver copy it to a USB stick or a DVD or CDROM Or a FLOPPY if you have one. Then insert the download file into the drive then go to the Devices folder find the devices that are not up to date. Right click the one you are looking to update click update then select have own disk or you will search yourself. Then point the search to the disk. It should pick up the drivers off the disk.

My acer netbook doesn't list my touchpad in the control panel

did you look under Mice and other pointing devices? Should list Synaptics PS/2 TouchPad

Driver files are in C:\Program Files\Synaptics\Syn TP\

Should be 21 files. If not, then I would suspect the device was uninstalled.

Synaptic touchpad doesnt work may laptop is Acer 3810T

Well usually with the synaptic touchpad is that they come with there system tray icon to tell us the status...
Basically if in the right hand corner of most OS and depending on your settings you will see the notification icons... In this section you should see the Synaptic Icon, usually a red square with a with Strike going through kinda with a curve in it...
IF you see it then, you mouse should be fine and it could become a hardware issue, if it is not there...
Go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager... Go to "Mice and other pointing device" Should now see the synaptic. Right Click on it uninstall, DO NOT check box that says DELETE the driver.. then restart your system after successful uninstall and all should be working...
IF not go back to the device manager with above steps... then once there, Right Click on "mice and other pointing device" then Scan for hardware changes and it should use windows update get it for you....

My synaptic pointing device stop working ..I think

Since you do not specify the model number for your HP laptop one cannot be too specific. On my Toshiba laptop activation and deactivation of the touch pad is enacted by pressing the Fn-F9 sequence.

The actual Function key to press after the Fn key might have the picture of a touch pad on it. Examine tour laptop keyboard.

Good Morning: I have an Acer Aspire 5920

Hello,

As by your description, the FN F7 key combo did not solve the problem. Please restart the machine , press F8 then select from the list "Safe mode" then press enter. Then see how the Touch pad reacts in Safe mode. If it works perfectly in safe mode, we can assume you have a software problem that is preventing it from working in normal windows mode.

Please download and install the latest BIOS for your machine. The E525 has a issue where the TP just stops working, upgrading the BIOS solves the issue on the E525...

Please install one of these drivers for the desired Operating system...

Acer Aspire 5100 upgrade to Windows 7

Until ACER decide to produce the drivers to enable Win7 support there's nothing you can do.

Developing new drivers costs money, until they decide it is money well spent it won't be done.

Aspire one ZG5 CCHANGES THE ZOOM LEVEL ON ITS OWN

Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings > Settings > Advanced Gestures > Pinch

(or alternatively right-click the Synaptics Pointing Device icon in your taskbar and select Pointing Device Properties)

Untick the box that says 'Enable Pinch'. This will disable the zooming.

Additionally, you might be suffering the same problem as I was which was I had no idea how to use the zoom and that's why I wanted to lock it. Once I learned, I've decided the zoom is useful and I'm keeping the feature enabled.

Here is what Synaptics have to say about the 'pinch' gesture:
The Pinch gesture delivers zooming functionality in many applications. The Pinch gesture can be used to perform the same function as a scroll wheel on standard Windows applications that support CTRL-SCROLL WHEEL zoom functionality.

To perform a pinch gesture, place two fingers on the TouchPad surface. Move them closer together or further apart. To zoom in, place your fingers on the TouchPad surface near to each other and then slide them apart. To zoom out, begin by placing your fingers apart and then moving them closer together.

The best zooming experience results when the finger tips of the two fingers are used for the gesture.

That will hopefully be of assistance if you want to learn how to use the zoom rather than disable it.

My mouse scroll 4 way button on my laptop doesn't work and when i go into mouse properties it says synaptics pointing device driver not there- not sure if they are related.

Looks like your mouse/pointing device driver isn't correctly installed. You can download latest drivers from acer support page www.acer.com
