Gt 5220 video card problems

I bought a evga 8600gts for my Gateway gt5220. Installed it and ran great for about a month. then when i tried to boot up the pc you can here a couple of beeps and then it boots up without any display. I first thought the the power supply wasn't sufficient so i bought a 500w power supply and installed it. Same problem occurred. The i went and bought the same exact card to see maybe if it was my video card. Same problem occurred. What I'm thinking is that i fried the pcie slot running the card on the stock power supply. Everything else works great on my pc. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'll try the solution, sksabir, but I think the slot is bad because the
video card is getting power and the "clicking sound" the pc makes right
before it boots up is a sign that the computer is telling me its bad. I just don't want to spend around $200 for a new motherboard when i can put that towards a new pc. Oh, by the way my onboard video card works just fine and that's what I've been using for now. Thanks for your help.

The pcie slot in which you are using the card may be some problem , you can try by clening the same by some electronic card cleaner liquid spray. And again try to put the card and boot the system.

sounds like your system is booting up and running due to the hold power shutdown procedure. you might try replacing the video card or adding one if your video is integrated.

Gateway GT5220 bios works no boot up

If the issue was the video card then there would be no display. If there was any display it would be discolored.

Try unplugging any removable media that's hooked up to the computer. After that try to boot it up.

If it still doesn't go anywhere then you most likely have a power supply issue on your hands. try unplugging an unnecessary components inside the computer such as any CD/DVD drives and removing any cards installed. Pretty much everything but the motherboard and the hard drive. If it still doesnt boot properly then you might either have to buy a new power supply or a new motherboard as long as you know your hard drive is good.

The thing si if it was an issue with the hard drive you would get an error message. If you seemed to have left out any error messages please post them.

Monitor wont work

You were not very clear with your question. If you mean you have disabled your onboard video, then installed the new video card and get nothing then the card is not compatible with your system OR you got a bad card. If you mean you simply installed the card, turn on your computer and get nothing until you move your monitor plug back to the original port (without turning off the computer) then you must disable your onboard video by going into your BIOS settings. Follow the instructions that came with your video card or your computer to do that. Usually you get in by pressing delete or F2 while the computer boots.

Gateway Gt 5220 computer powers on but will not boot

It's either the video card, memory, or motherboard.

I had the same problem with one of my desktop's. It ended up being the motherboard. Had to turn the computer on and off, on and off until eventually it would power on.

I'd start with reseating the memory and video card. Is your video onboard?

Let me know what happens and I'll keep throwing ideas your way.

Best of luck!

EVGA 9400 GTvideo card problem only 1x mode

Sounds like the processor is not enough GHz to run the video card. If I am not mistaken the 9400 GT needs a 2.3GHz or higher processor and needs a 400 watt powersupply to run properly so if your computer is not set up to those specs the card will not work properly

Gt5520 video card

Is this a PCI-E card? I will work on the assumption that it is. Unless you are running two video cards in SLI remove the old card, they make great paper weights. Be sure to only add/remove hardware while the machine is turned off.
