I'm having the same problem right now. I went to bed last night with the PC still running. We lost power for a while in the middle of the night, this morning the PC will not power up, and the green light under the power cable plug-in is flashing. The PC is plugged in to a surge protector, and the surge protector is still reading that it's protected. I've not tried anything yet, but was basically looking to see what the flashing green light meant. I'm hoping (though doubtful) that maybe there's a reset. Should I start with a new power supply?

Same problem. After power down. Never coming back. I checked motherboard and when power is on light on the motherboard is on. Change memory, video card, power supply and nothing. I had same problem like a year ago with AMD 64 - Systemax, but didn't do any fix.

Hey, If you have switched out the power supply with known working and it still doesn't power up then it might be your motherboard has gone bad. What happened the last time the PC was on? Did you power it down normally and then it never came back on?

Try removing the 512 MB memory to see if it does work with the 1GB stick only.

It's not the power supply that does have a problem. It has something with your memory stick.

My monitor no display and light is blinking

Hi,
if the monitor light is blinking this suggests that, there is no display signal coming from the tower. This could be because of the following .

1. Bad video card 2. Bad video software

To check, where the problem is , power of the system tower and remove the power cord from the back of the tower. Press and hold the power buttoon for 10 seconds and the reconnect the power cord and turn the tower on. Check if there is any display or the status of the light changes from amber to green for even a small instance.

If the light changes to green and back to amber the video port on the tower is bad

Alternatively you can connect the monitor to another desktop or laptop to check if the same is working correctly.

Thanks for using fixya

Hp pavilion f1340.uk will not turn on at all, just the green light flickers at the rear of the tower?

Could be a number of things wrong with this tower.

-If the computer stays at a black screen with a white cursor, it means it's missing system files and the operating system cannot start up. A reinstall is needed.

-If your computer won't power on, it could be either the power supply or motherboard, or sometimes, both.

-Also, check to see if the RAM is properly inserted into the proper slots.

Hope this was helpful.

Bad Power supply. Look on the side of your current power supply and find the wattage rating, and buy one of the same rating or higher. Some place like newegg.

The power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This means that either your power supply is bad or the motherboard. Try removing all devices attached to your computer and check your USB ports to see if they are damaged.

Hewlett Packard Pavilion Tower Button Flashes for a second but will not power on the tower. The green light in back is on and power source is fine. How can I fix this?

Sounds like the power supply is bad. That's the one inside the tower.

You could try blowing dust out of it,  reseating the connectors. But I have a feeling it needs replacing.

Go here for detailed instructions from HP..

try removing the front panel make sure the button isnt clogged with dust or disconected failing that it may well be your power supply internal fuse which can be repaird but a trick job if youare not very good with a soldering iron you may get a replacement one on ebay.
