Re: little green machine

The pump motor solution worked on my Bissell 1400. I did not have to take the vacuum motor out. I also lubed the motor although it looked like it might have sealed bearings, figuring a little WD 40 couldn't hurt.

Re: little green machine

Just got mine to work today, same problem. Took it apart by takimg the back off.In the very bottom of the machine is a small pump motor about 1 1/2" diameter X 1 1/2" long. I slid this out and removed two screws holding a plastic strap around the motor to remove it. The motor was siezed so I spun the shaft free with pliers and reinstalled it. now it pumps water through the hose. When re-installing the motor to the pump be aware the shaft has a flat spot that must mate the plastic pump properly. Also you must first remove the large vaccum motor at the top. Total time under one hour. Hope this helps. Cat.22

Little green machine will not spray cleaner

Have you checked the tiny hole that the spray comes out of. I have one and sometimes it becomes clogged. I take a small needle and run it thru it.

Spray path is too wide. Is there a deflector available

I had the same problem with my proheat. The water would spray a wide path out the sides. I think it must be a defect as I have replaced my unit due to another problem. I purchased the Bissell machine without the heater and the nozzle is fine.

Not putting out water

Here's some trouble shooting tips that will help you figure out what's wrong with your Bissell Little Green Machine, and why the water won't spray out. You didn't mention how old the machine was, but if the machine is brand new, and you've never used this before, then you'll need to prime the machine for the first time.

To prime the Little Green Machine, remove the hose after filling the clean water tank, and press and hold the trigger on the hose for approximately 45 seconds. This will prime the pump, and get the water flowing.

If the machine is older, and you've already been using it, here's some other troubleshooting tips that you can do to try and fix the machine:

Step 1. Fill the clean water solution tank with water, and remove it from the machine. With the tank removed, press the piston at the end of the tank that fits into the machine. The piston is the spring loaded part in the top of the water tank that is pressed upwards when the trigger is squeezed, which in turn releases water into the machine. Press the piston inwards with your finger and see if water comes out.

Step 2. If water is released from the tank when you push the piston inwards, then your piston and cap assembly are fine. Next unscrew the cap to the clean water tank and make sure that the o-ring is present. This is the rubber ring that rests in between the cap and the tank.

Step 3. If your o-ring is not there, you'll need to purchase a new a new o-ring and replace it. If the o-ring is present, screw the cap back onto the tank. Inspect the receiver to make sure there is no debris blocking it. The receiver is the part on the machine that the tank sits on top of. If you see debris here, remove any debris that could be obstructing the tanks piston.

Step 4. After checking these three things, refill the tank with water, reinsert back into the machine and test to see if the water now comes out. If the water does not come out, move on to step 5.

Step 5. Unscrew the two screws on the handle of the hose, and remove the cover that the two screws secure.

Step 6. After removing the hose cover, inspect the hose that connects to the trigger assembly for blockages:

Step 7. If blockages are found, remove the tube from the trigger, and blow through the hose to remove any blockages, and reinstall the tube back onto the trigger.

Step 8. Reinstall the trigger assembly so that the metal spring's curved side is facing down so that it touches the trigger valve:

Step 8. After reassembling the hose, turn the machine on again and try spraying the hose again.

If none of these solutions fixed your machine, this most likely indicates that you need to replace your pump. The pump is the internal part that takes the water from the tank, through the hose, and finally sprays it out. The pump replacement is a moderately difficult repair, but if you'd like me to walk you through it, I'd be more then happy to do so.

Please feel free to ask any follow up questions, or let me know if you'd like for me to show you how to replace the pump. I'm always more then happy to answer any question that you may have.

My Bissell Little Green won't spray the solution. The suction seems to be working fine and the lines are all connected as they should be. What's up and how can I fix it?

I also had the same problem as you.
Try suctioning up a full tank of hot tap water into the collection tank to soften/release a possible kink in the tubing inside of the vacuum hose that carries solution out to the spray tip.
I did this a couple of times and it worked. This info I found on the Bissell website.
Good Luck!

Bissel Little Green Spray Motor

Motor was seized. Probably from lack of use combined with the moisture involved with such a device. I loosened the motor with a pliers, gave it a small shot of wd-40, and off we go. Works fine.
