Exhaust Doesn't Work

The exhaust doesn't pull or draw from bottom.

The exhaust doesn't work. The fan blows plenty of air out of the back of the microwave (into the ventilation duct) but it doesn't pull air from the bottom (remove smoke from stove). I removed the microwave filters and had the same results.

Do you hear the exhaust fan running? If so, then the grease filter may be clogged, or the exahust ducts from the oven to the outdoors may be blocked. Sometimes there will be an animal nest inside the duct near the outside wall. If the fan is not running, you may have a problem with the exhaust fan or with the control circuit board, which we repair for $39.95 nationwide. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: If you still have questions, please feel free to follow up here or by e-mail. We appreciate your thoughtful ratings to our reply.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 vent fan doesn't pull air from beneath

On the exhaust system (top of unit) there is a small metal 'damper' that is most likely stuck shut. If that is all clear then you have a problem in the duct work of the home.

Microwave exhaust fan doesn't really exhause any steam out. Model 721.80042700

The fan is for cooling the magnetron, nothing else. Steam remains in the cavity which is why the door should be left open after cooking to allow the steam to evaporate.

Ge spacemakerxl microwave jvm1650 vent is not drawing air

It is possible, you have removed and checked the filters, still the intake is low even without the protective filters. The system will need to be taken apart to find the opstruction, or as you said a hole in the venting mechanism.

How does this microwave exhaust system work. The installer did not use any duct work, so is the exhaust internal somehow? There is no grill on the exterior for exhaust

The exhaust fan appears to intake through a louvered vent in the bottom rear of the microwave case and output through a grease filter near the top front center of the case. You may be able to see some vent holes along the top of the case though these might be obscured by the manner in which the microwave was installed. You should be able to pop off the front panel that runs above the door but you'll need to consult the owners manual for specific instuctions.

JVM1790 Microwave GE-Draws air from bottom and top vents

1. You have to have exhaust pipe to connect m/w vent and this pipe has to be free from obstruction.
2. If it already connected and good, but air come from vent bar over door, then blow motor on top of the m/w was installed in wrong position ( motor has 2 -3 position depends which way air coming out up, back or front).
3. In this case you have to remove m/w from installation and change motor position.

Microwave oven exhaust fan

The Intake is gentle. It is not designed to have a great pull of air from the Cook Top.

TEST: Turn Exhaust Fan ON
Hold a sheet of your printer paper up to the INTAKE GRILLE (bottom). Will the sheet of paper stay? Held up only by the suction? If it does, Air Intake is OK.
