Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8GB USB Flash Drive, destroying files

This drive is a little overt a month old, used only about a dozen times. I work on Macs (G4 & Intel MacBook Pro). The other day after copying files from my home Mac I dragged the drive icon to the trash to eject (which worked OK before) then removed the drive from the computer. I got an error message saying the drive was improperly removed and to always eject from the file menu. When I got to work I was not able to open any of the new files. They were all damaged and dates had been changed. Today I tried again and noticed the drive is running very slow and all files I copy to the drive keep changing their dates as I add them to the drive. Then I'm unable to open them on my work computer. (some older files previously saved on the drive were still intact). The new files are not the problem as I burned them to a CD and can open them on other computers, but after I copy anything to this flash drive they now become damaged and will not open. Can this problem be fixed and if so how? Thanks.

Run a check disk on the memory stick - most likely a good indicator that the flash drive is on its way out as they normally have a life span of about a year or two.

If its only a month old it would most likely ( obviously ) be easier to get it swapped out and get a replacement or a refund.

Take a router (wired or wireless), and use Ethernet cables to connect the two computers to the router.
Configure the old computer into the same "workgroup" as the new computer (and restart it).
Right-mouse-click on the folder containing the files to be transferred.
Click to enable "sharing" of that folder.
On the new computer, browse the "Network Neighbourhood".
It may take a few minutes for the new computer to "find" the old computer (working through the router).
Access the folder that you "shared".
Copy the files, over your private network, to the new computer.

I just purchased an 8GB USB 2.0 flash drive from SanDisk Cruzer. I plugged it in, it recognized it then opened to documents what do i do next?

You use it like a floppy disk, you can copy files to and from your computer to the flash drive, then take the flash drive out and the put into another computer to share, ie. to download and copy files to from other computers such as a friend's computer. The files can be anything, music, photos etc.

Plug it into the USB port. Press Windows-E to bring up the Explorer window, or start My Computer and open the removable drive.

You can then drag&drop files to/from the flash drive just as you do on the hard drive.

I just bought a Sandisk Cruzer Micro, 8GB. My problem is that I'm rather computer illiterate. Can you tell me how to use this thing? Where to plug it in , etc. What do I do after its plugged in. I have...

1. Find a USB port on your computer usually it has a 3 pronged logo on it
2. plug it in, it will only fit in one way its a rectangle.
3. your computer if running on an operating system made after windows 98 will auto detect these jump or thumb drives.
4. you can browse to this new memory using my computer on a PC or by using finder on a MAC.
to copy files the easiest way i know to do so on both PCs and MACs is to select the files off of the source and drag and drop (or copy and paste them) to your new 8GB drive.
5. once you can see the files on the USB drive open them so you know the file is there and not a short cut.

You should strongly consider buying a second back up like an external had drive. you should have 2 back-ups of critical files.

-good luck-
