Try to see if there is a pin hole reset button on the unit. if there is use a paper clip and reset the unit to factory defualts.

Several of TomTom's models have this problem when the battery power is low. What happens is that when turning on the device, it takes a lot of power to boot up. If the power level is low, during boot up, it brings up the image then right at that moment, it freeze because it doesn't have enough power to run the rest of the boot sequence.

The solution is to leave the charger connected to the unit for some time, and try to turn it on and off a few minutes later. Sometimes it won't work until you try it a few times. You can also use the reset button to turn it on and off if you have a pin. Once there's sufficient power, just leave the charger connected when you drive. As long as the battery is not at critical level, this problem should not occur.

Tom Tom powers up to completely blank or sometimes faded screen. Frist noticed this problem powering up on a very cold 15 degree morning GPS was in the car all that night so it got cold.

These things don't especially like the cold weather. I did the same thing once, with the same result. Once the unit warmed up it worked fine. consequently, I no longer leave it in the vehicle at night.

GPS unit is stuck on the main screen, and wont turn off

This means it is not reading the SD card and that it needs to be re-formatted.

This is best done in a card reader and not the tomtom itself.
Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system
??
Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.
??
You now ned to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.
??
In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.
??
Then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your sd card
??
DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !
??
Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the sd card
??
It should now work

Tom tom won't turn off

if it does not proceed when the icon is selected, presume data corruption or in fact no data.
TomTom is renouned for this type of problem.
try rteinstalling the map data from the source.

try a reset first ( small pinhole on rear) put open paperclip end in and gently push the button inside) if this still fails then data installation is the go

No GPS Signal in TomTom One XL all of a sudden

I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.

I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".

The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.

I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.

This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.

Cheers
