DVD - not playing... Audio CD Plays in sta...

DVD player suddenly stopped recognizing DVDs. Music CDs play fine. Are there 2 laser pickups? The dvd (no matter which one)acts like it wants to play - main bluescreen (boot screen) says loading.... then the screen turns black like the dvd is starting - but then a second later - goes back to blue screen and says no disc. Audio CDs play fine. Counter comes on screen and can hear audio. It was only $25 or so for the player and am going to buy a new one. ust wondering for personal experience.
