Question about Frigidaire PLD4555RFC Dishwasher

2 Answers

Spray arm, 3rd level, fell off. Flower-like looking ring is still attached to top of dishwasher and arm itself is no longer attached. How can I reattach the spray arm to the flower-looking like ring?I have Frigidaire model number PLD4555FRC0; part # of spray arm, 3rd level, grey is 154478202. I called help line and got someone whose accent I could not understand. I think his name was Victor. He left the line and never came back but, before he left, he said he was looking for the part...why he, the so-called "HELP" expert couldn't find it and I, the consumer, could was hard to understand. I just finally hung up so no quality assurance review could be made. Any help you could give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unscrew the flower looking piece, there is a white plastic retaining clip inside- press it back together.

The 'flower looking part' does screw off and you can attach the washing arm back to the white peice, BUT the washing arm still falls off EVERYTIME I wash dishes!!! I cannot find the replacement part and am tired of unscrewing the 'flower looking part' everyday....

Bottom rack cleans fine, top rack doesn't clean at all - can I take apart the top spray arm?

yes, the spray arm can be removed and cleaned out.

Also, clean the 3rd (very top spray area) located attached to the top of the dishwasher. You want to make sure this small (1 inch size) piece can spin freely, so water can rinse the upper rack items.

Upper spray arm failure

Easy to solve!
(1) Remove the drawers to give yourself room to work
(a) bottom drawer just comes right out -- but you knew that
(b) Carefully unclip small plastic retainer caps at the ends of the metal "glides" for the top drawer. Then slide the caps out of the glides. Then remove the top drawer.
(2) Unscrew the "gear-like" plastic fitting into whose hole you were sticking your finger when you felt that small cylindrical ring.
(3) Now that you've got access to the ring, the solution is obvious -- use it to snap the upper arm back into the gear-like fitting. When you're done, the arm will rotate freely in the fitting.
(4) Put everything back together and enjoy the fact that you didn't have to pay some yobbo $75 to come to your hous and do this for you!

(HINT: When screwing the gear-like fitting back into place, use the old machinist's trick of pressing gently and screwing backwards until you feel a click. The threads will now be aligned for you to screw things together the right way. If you do not do this, you might experience frustration reattaching fitting -- since the piece it screws onto is spring loaded.)

Maytag dishwasher with a spray arm that is stopped up and I need to remove it and clean it.

We have a dwu7400 so i'm not sure it is the same, but above the top arm you should see a serrated ring (looks a bit like a flower petal) and that should spin off and the arm should come with it. There's a snap that holds those pieces together that if you squeeze it with your fingers you can get it out. Just reverse that to put it back together.

Upper rinse arm fell off. How does it reattach?

usually it will clip to the basket that holds cups and the like, and engages with the water outlet when the basket is slid into position. Some spray arms have a locking ring that, when the spray bar is held in place, rotates clockwise (if viewed from underneath) and locks the spraybar in place.

Upper Spray Arm Fell Off

If you are referring to the arm on the top of the dishwaser (not the one under the top basked) it snaps in. What probably happened is that it fell off and the plastic nut flipped around. The gray plasting thing on the top (that looks like a flower) will unscrew and you can turn the nut around and snap it back on and then re-attach the entire piece.

Spray tower fell off

The Spray tower fits in the bottom rack, Its actually pretty obvious as there is no way it can sit int he position it has to without being in the rack itself otherwise the rack and tower would block each other all the time.
Examine the base of your spray tower it should have two "clips" or plastic protusions that will, with a circular twist, snap onto the bars of the middle of the rack itself. Then when in place and your rack is slid inside the dishwasher the tower should sit directly over top of the exact middle of your bottom spray arm.
et Voila.

The arms of my dish washer won't move

First thing you want to do is make sure the spray arms themselves are o.k. The ports are not clogged and there are no cracks. Once you are satisfied this is not the problem, check the seal ring on between the lower spray arm and the spray arm support on the pump. See if it is out of position or damaged. Make sure the water level is not too low, should just come in contact with the bottom of the heating element. Next check your filters, look for garbage, plastics, anything that would clog it. Last would be the pump itself. Ron
