To give you the best anwer possible then you have to clarify a few things. What brand and style is it?When it doesn't run does the element heat up? Have you ohmed door switch ? Have you checked the actual outlet voltage and pigtail connection ? does the motor turn by hand? If your unit is equiped with limit switches on element housing what result did they register? and if it has belt safety switch on the tensioner arm what result was found there < testing arm up and down >? when trouble shooting these steps are crucial to diagnose quickly and thourough.

My dryer doesnt go on. The front panel still clicks and when i push start button it buzzes but doesnt go

Belt, fuse, door switch, timer switch, something caught on the drum (all sorts of things get caught back there), heat sensor (depending on the age, had one that had a heat sensor would turn the dryer off, if told the computer dryer was overheating even though had not been running), bad motor, bad motherboard for dryer (again depending on age of dryer)

Dryer does not heat up model mdg508daww tested ignitor, radiant flame sensor, thermal fuse and tried limit fuse and cycling fuse checked blower wheel and made sure there was no air flow restrictions and...

Hello,

A few other things that could make the dryer not heat are,

Heat selector switch on the control panel

Timer

Motor

A quick question though...i see where ya tested the ignitor but what i would like to know is does it glow or not

To test the heat selector switch ya need to use a multimeter set to measure ohms of resistiance and test the following to have Zero ohms resistiance when set to high heat setting

Red wire to blue wire terminal (wire must be removed)
Red wire to yellow wire temninal

The heat circuit on the timer is
Yellow wire terminal on the timer to the red wire terminal...on that too the wires need to be removed off of the timer

On the motor the heat circuit on the motor switch is the yellow/black wire to the black wire to determine if its good the igniter can be checked for POWER (120 volts) since the motor only sends power to the ignitor when the dryer is running because itsa built in safety feature that will prevent the dryer from heating when not running

Good luck,
GENE

My LER4634JQ1 dryer stopped working yesterday. If I press the start button nothing happens. What can I check..I think it is something minor. This is the first time the dryer has ever stopped working. It...

There are many things that could be keeping the dryer from running. The first thing to check is the start switch itself. When you press in the switch, it should complete the circuit that powers the dryer motor. If you disconnect the dryer's power cord, take off the rear panel, and disconnect the switch, you can check it with a multimeter to make sure it changes state when you activate it. If it doesn't change state, the switch is your problem, and you can either take it apart and repair it or replace it.

If it does change state, the switch is good, and your problem lies somewhere else in the circuitry. It's probably not something minor at this point, and you should have a professional look at it.

Dryer heats during function test but thats it

There are several potential causes of not heating up. You have addressed the thermostat issue already. Check the switch mounted on the motor. Use a multimeter to check the switch. Unplug and reseat the electrical connections. Two of the terminals on the switch are for supplying power to the gas valves. You can check the sensor mounted on the side of the burner housing. The contacts should open after the glow bar has been red for a few seconds. Other things to look at are a faulty heat selection switch and a bad timer. Hope this helped and best wishes.

There is no heat when turning the dryer on

Your dryer may need a new heater coil. You can check the coil with a multimeter buy placing a lead from the multimeter on each end of the coil and seeing if the circuit is closed. If so, the coil is good and may not be getting power to it. In that case the controller or hi temp thermostat needs to be checked.

Dryer will spin but won't heat up

Hi

Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
  • house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them )
  • heating element, burnt wire
  • thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ),
  • motor heat switch, timer, selector switch,
  • burnt power cord/plug.
You can check these things using an ohmmeter/multimeter from here.

Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:

  • glow bar igniter,
  • thermal fuse ( not all models ),
  • coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats,
  • motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.

Spinner does not work

could be a few things here but lets start with what its not. it is agitating (pardon thespelling) so we know that its not the motor or belt or agitation gear. the next thing that we should look into is the switch inside the control knob. just like with your dryer, you should hear a click. thats the switch. if the motor isnt coming on after that then its probably that switch. you will need to take the control panel apart and disconect the wire from both sides of the switch. then turn your multimeter to the contenuity setting and simply turn the switch over and over and see if the number changes. if it doesnt then it could be the wires or maybe even a relay of some sort, but i figure first things first on this trouble shooting job.

My Kenmore Elite dryer starts, but stops running when the start button is released. Do you know the possible problem? Any suggested solutions?

it is one of 2 things either the motor switch is not working right or the control board is out check the motor first if you have a multimeter check the centrifugal switch on the motor
