How to reset engine service light

Suggest auto parts store many of them will do a complementary check. They have in the past connected a scan tool and reported the error codes for their customers..

Another has been for some error codes disconnecting the battery for about a minute or more and reconnecting has reset the codes. Suggest after reconnecting the battery not to apply any throttle pedal for the first few minutes. The PCM electronics will need to relearn the running data.

When i changed ignition on 2001 ford explorer I ended up having to replace steering column now it wont turn over & the anti theft light flashes & wont stop. what can be done to get car started?

At least you know the anti theft system is working. Jokes aside, I would think that the electronic security system is not recognising the new lock and steering column. You could try leaving the battery completely disconnected for at least 2 or 3 hours to see if the system resets. Reconnect the battery and then try again with the new key. You will have to put the security code back into your radio as well. If this doesn't work, it may need to go to a Dealer to reprogram your electronic system.

Hi! i changed the battery of the car, when i did it i lost the code of the radio and now i don't know the code... if u can please help? the car is audi a6 2001 1.8

When the battery was removed the codes are reset and so it will be best to check your manual or the dealership database as this is easily available with them.
If not check if the following link gives some tips:

2001 dodge grand caravan sport.Grandkids left light on and killed Battery. Jumped the van got it started notice this morning going to work my Radio and speedometer isnt working.Checked fuses but none...

Make sure to check the engine compartment fuses and the inside fusebox, if all the fuses look good then try to unhook the battery and then connect it back on and start the van and see if this helps. the radio is it asking for a code, if this radio has antitheft then you will need to install the code to make it work, look at manual and it will tell you how to do this. the code is entered using the preset staition buttons, there should be a card in the glovebox with the radio code if it has antitheft. if you find no bad fuses then you may have short out the cluster jumping it, but most of the time it just needs a fuse or reseting by removing neg battery terminal for about 2min, good day let me know the outcome.

Just changed the battery on my 2001 Chevy Suburban and now the radio displays LOC. I assume this is some sort of anti-theft security. Anyone know what the code is to reset the radio?

I have seen this alot. The best advice I can give on this is take it to a local Chevy dealer and MOST of them will put their code in for free.

2001 Buick radio Locked after battery change

Most likely there is an anti-theft code for the radio and you must enter that code to enable the radio. This will happen when the is battery is disconnected. If you do not know the code or the procedure for entering it consult your manual. If you do not have the manual or code you will need to have the dealer reset it for you.

Battery died in 2001 astro van....

Some models of the astro were equipped with the security feature like your describing. If the radio is locked (meaning it doesn't work at all) it will be the security. Seems funny that the radio wouldn't work, but usually it locks it too. As far as I know, youll have to go to GM and have it unlocked.
