Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
My hpdv4000 isnt detecting the cd-rom drive. The pc keeps restarting wih an error saying that system files are missing. I wanna clean install my os but thats impossible as the cd drive isnt being detected. In the HDD self test i pass the quick test but fail the comprehensive test. I need step by step instructions of what i should do.
First are you following the instructions from HP. The reason whys is that the CD drive should be picked up while the computer is doing a self test in POST. You may have to look into the bios to see if its there, If its there then technically it should work with recovery disk. As far as I could see I this unit dose not have a recovery partation so you will have to reinstall it using a cd drive. Worse case will be using a USB drive if your BIOS supports it.
The following is HP's instructions to reinstall.
Follow the steps below to reinstall your operating system:
NOTE: When prompted for the product key, refer to the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity located on the bottom of the notebook.
