Noticeable loss of suction, the filter has been cleaned

The vacuum has lost suction. I cleaned the filter and it didn't make any noticeable difference. The hose has come loose at the top where it attaches to the handle, but we have used duck tape and there doesn't seem to be any loss of suction there. I have the original yellow dyson vacuum. It is about 5 years old.

I have lost suction on my dirt devil vacuum cleaner, I have looked in the obvious places but can't find a problem. It is only a few months old. Thank you

The loss of suction can be on the output side of the impeller also. Make sure that any filters there are clean especially if it is HEPA

Why has the vacuum cleaner lost power?

If by power loss you mean loss of suction power then I would check and either clean or replace ALL of the filters. Check and clean the rotating brushes and make sure all of the tubes are clear. Almost all suction loss is down to some form of blockage to the air passing through the cleaner and unless the air can pass freely through and exhaust properly, it will not pick up efficiently.

Some of the dyson units strip down further using torx bits, sometimes the internal holes of the plastic components get clogged with fine dust that hardens, causing loss of suction. Although the filters are cleaned regularly the airflow is reducedthus giving poor cleaning power.

Loss of suction on hand tools (DC07)

It sounds like there's probably a clog in the hose. Drop a small coin or marble down the hose and see if it falls through. There's going to be a loss of suction in the power nozzle too, just not as noticeable when vacuuming carpet.
There could also be a clog behind the filter where the hose plugs into tank, or a dirty filter.

My Dyson DC14 ANimal vacum cleaner has lost a lot of its suction, i have cleaned the regular filter but this does not seem to have improved it much. JAmie

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

A loss of suction is most likely caused by a blockage or a dirty filter. If you have cleaned the filter, it would be worth checking the machine through for a blockage by following the user guide or the diagnostics in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

If you are still having difficulties with your Dyson, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Loss of suction

There should be a sponge like filter in the area of the canister and no this is NOT the HEPA filter. When you find this other filter you will want to bang it off outside and then put it back in and you should be all set.

Dyson suction loss

make sure the filters in the bottom are clean, then remove the canister and you will need to clean it thouroughly, pay close attention to the upper section inside where the "cones" come togetheri have read that they are prone to clog up here and lose suction, google dyson suction loss or how to clean a dyson ect...pay attention to getting the rod that releases the bottom to dump back in the correct place or it will not work right. a few write ups tell about this!

Loss of suction bissell vacume

that is normal for the vacume to shut off if the motor overheats you must keep teh dirt cup clean and empty and all the filters clean, when you empty the dirt cup if you have a lot of pet hair take the hose off and make sure that it is clean as well, and do not try to pick up any of those cleaning wipes that will stop it up real quick

You say it lost its suction, then you also say this is plenty of suction power, seems you cant figure out the prob. Try cleaning the fan on the suction blower. The blades can get chocked with dust which will give you a reduced suction.
