Sony DVP-FX810 blank screen

The problem seems to be the back light has gone out, however I would like to know how to fix it. The sound is working correctly, and if light is focused on the screen you can view what is being displayed. 0 I don' mind opening the unit if someone could forward me to a user manual or tell me how to open it up.

Just saw your post and I had the same problem and was out of warrenty. If you have not already discovered, once you take the bottom off and expose the circuit board, you will find 3 connections to the board from the display. What happened with mine was that as you rotate the screen during use, if you do not rotate back the appropriate direction, the wires for the connections twist and eventaully disconnect. Just untwist the wires very carefully and reconnect. Use some new electrical tape to secure and you are good to go.

I just opened my DVP-FX810. I bought it used ($60) and the guy said some times he had problems with it. It has worked fine for 3 weeks. But then I heard something rattling around on the inside. When I opened it I found that one of the disc door springs was loose around in the case. Lucky it didn't short anything out or jam the gears. The plastic support is broken so I just removed the spring. To disassemble; Flip it over. Remove the battery. Remove all the visible screws. And yes, you have to remove the voided warranty warning sticker to get to one of the screws. So be aware of the consequences of your self repair. Also, there are four screws under the rubber pads in the corners. The rubber pad in the middle back did not have a screw under it. Once all (15) screws are removed then you can pry off the back panel. That is as far as I went. Hope this helps.

Dvp-fx810 screen blank and buttons do not respond. suspect bad connection from unit to swivel screen. can this be repaired?

Hi you probably turned the screen the wrong way take off the battery undo all the screws (heaps) take the base off and check the black and white plug hasnt pulled out of the sockets push them back in, unless you turned the screen around and around and ripped them out this may be the cause when putting the screws back in careful you dont thread them as it is easily done good luck
