Question about Microsoft Virtual PC 7 with Windows XP Home (s65-00396) for Mac

Corrupted mp3s A family member accidentally formatted a partition on my hard drive. I was able to recover the partition, but the music files on the partition cannot be used. All of the songs match up to the original properties, but all of my mp3 players list them as either zero duration songs, or 2 to 3 second play time songs. Is there a utility that I can use to recover my files? I've tried MP3Repair, MP3Doctor, RazorLame, etc., but none of them seem to work. Please help...

How to recover Office Document Files

Documents such as Word files, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, Access databases and a wide range of other titles are among the most valuable to their users. Unlike photographs that can be snapped in an instant, it takes a lot of time to create a document. And it only takes a single moment to lose it.

Undeleting Document Files

Accidentally deleting an important document (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf), presentation (*.ppt) or spreadsheets (*.xls, *.xlsx) can happen to anyone. End of a working day or a busy week can and do lead to human errors, making people delete documents instead of archiving or sending them.
Fortunately, recovering a deleted file is fairly simple if you act fast. If you deleted a document, Windows will not actually erase its content. Instead, the system will simply mark its record in the file system as "deleted", allowing you to reverse this operation with a proper tool.

Safety Data Recovery

To undelete a document, download Hetman Uneraser. However, it's best if you can use another PC do download the product, as writing anything, including the data recovery program, to the disk that contains deleted files may actually overwrite their content, making the files unrecoverable.
After downloading the tool, install it onto a disk other than one that contains the deleted files. If you have no such disk, use a USB flash drive. Run Hetman Uneraser and perform a quick disk scan. More often than not, you'll see your file in the list after a brief moment. If the file you deleted does not appear in the list, you'll have to run the full scan. The complete scanning of your hard disk may take a while to complete, as the tool will be analyzing all sectors on your hard drive in order to locate deleted documents even if they no longer appear in the file system.
When you see your file in the list, you can click on it to see a preview. Sometimes you'll see multiple copies of the same file. The preview will help you pick the least damaged one or the latest copy saved.

Corrupted or Formatted Disk

If your documents are stored on a disk that's been damaged, corrupted, accidentally formatted or repartitioned, you'll need a different tool. Download Hetman Partition Recovery from site. This tool will be able to scan the damaged disk in order to locate all document files that are still available.
With formatted, repartitioned and corrupted disks, the quick scan mode is of little use. More often than not you'll be better served by the slower full scan mode. The rest of the process is very similar to that described for Hetman Uneraser.

A Word on SSD Drives

If your documents were stored on an SSD drive, your chances of getting them back are rather low. SSD's employ a number of techniques to improve their performance and longevity, basically cleaning up everything that's been deleted. If you format an SSD drive, it'll physically erase data, making the files unrecoverable. If you delete a file, the TRIM command will clean up disk space that was used by that file. There's little hope with SSD drives, but there are important exceptions:
  • Exception 1: if your SSD drive became damaged or corrupted, the garbage collection algorithms will not engage, and the actual content of the disk will remain recoverable. Use Hetman Partition Recovery to scan the disk and recover the documents.
  • Exception 2: if your SSD drive was connected via a USB cable at the time it was formatted or a document was deleted, the TRIM command will not be issued, and your files will remain recoverable. Use Hetman Uneraser or Hetman Partition Recovery to recover the documents.
  • Exception 3: if you were using the SSD drive with a version of Windows older than Windows 7 (e.g. Windows XP or Vista), the TRIM command will not be issued, and the files will remain recoverable.

How to Restore Files From a Windows Image

Windows 10 OS provides ample opportunities for data backup which include tracking file history and functionality that allows creating an image of the entire system. The concept of the system developers is that the functions of File History are required for convenient and rapid everyday recovery of user data, while a system image is created not so often and allows complete recovery of a partition (including system files) to a certain operable OS.
It is recommended to create a backup system image copy before modifying the hardware configuration of a computer, when updating the system, installing new drivers and so on. If something goes wrong, a backup system image copy will allow you restoring the system to the operable condition of Windows. However, when restoring from such image all the information on the system disk is erased by the image files. What should we do if we need only some files to be restored from the system image?
Fortunately, this task is rather easy. The matter is that the standard system of creating a backup system image copy in Windows 10 is based on the concept of virtual disks (Virtual Hard Drive). That is, images are recorded and stored as virtual drive files in the format vhdx (Virtual Hard Drive). Such virtual drives can be easily mounted with standard features of Windows 10 and be operated as ordinary drives within the system. Attaching such disk to the system, a user can restore from the backup system image separate files and directories.

Connecting a VHD disk containing a backup system image copy

System image is usually backed up to a separate physical disk or a network folder. That is why the first thing to do is to connect to the computer a media containing a backup copy of Windows 10 image (or connect a network folder).
Open the computer management console Computer Management and go to disk manager Storage->Disk Management (this console can be launched from the menu WinX by pressing the key combination Win+X and selecting the item Disk Management). In order to mount a vhd virtual disk select the item Attach VHD in the Action menu.

In the window that appears click Browse and specify the path to vhdx file. This file is usually stored on a drive that contains a backup system image copy in the directory with a name in the following format [Backup_Drive]:\WindowsImageBackup\[PC_Name]\Backup xxxx-xx-xx xxxxxx. In our example, complete path to the vhdx file is as follows: \\[PC_Name]\VHD\08_01_2016.vhd.

After the virtual drive has been mounted it has to be assigned a drive letter. To do it, click the right mouse button on the drive and select the menu item "Change Drive Letters and Path".

In the window that opens click Add and assign any letter to the drive, for example, E:

After this operation, a new drive will appear in the system, to which letter E:\ is assigned. Open in with Windows Explorer or any file manager and find the files that need to be restored.

Advice. User documents (photos, videos, music and other documents are usually saved to user's profile in the directory E:\Users\{user_name}.
After you have found and copied the necessary files, the external disk can be disconnected and as a result, the virtual vhd disk will also disappear from the system. Separate files from the system image can be recovered in the same way in Windows 7 and 8 as well.
If suddenly happened the lost of VHD image of Windows (for example, accidentally or intentionally deleted) it can be recovered by Hetman Partition Recovery. After recovering it with data recovery software you can restore individual files by stated above algorithm.

How can i recover my files when i accidentally formatted my drive d twice

The only chance you have is to find a free "undeleete" program and try to recover as much as possible.
Afterformatting a harddrive and later installationof Windows you cant expect to recover that much as - If the position where the file wasstored is owerwritten by windows files - recovery is not possible. If I were you - forget it - bu as mentioned there is a chance to recover some of the files. Search via google for Undeleete program (free) - or by a proper program.

How to Recover Deleted Files Have you accidentally deleted your files from...

How to Recover Deleted Files cd5adf9.jpg
Have you accidentally deleted your files from the Hard disk? Do you desperately want to recover them back? Well you need not panic! It is possible to recover the deleted files back from your hard disk (even after you have Shift+Deleted) provided you act as soon as you realize that your files are deleted and use the best deleted files recovery software. In this post you will find a detailed information on how to recover the deleted files from your Windows PC or Mac. Today there exists hundreds of data recovery tools and softwares on the market which boast to recover 100% of all the deleted files back in the original condition. But in reality most of these softwares are neither effective nor capable of recovering your files back. So it is very much necessary to make the right choice of the file recovery software in order to recover deleted files back in the original condition. We recommend the following softwares to recover the deleted files
1. Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery (for Windows)
2. Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery (for Mac)
Stellar Phoenix is one of the best company specializing in deleted files recovery services and solutions since 1993. Stellar’s Data Recovery Solutions encompasses a wide range of software for almost any data loss situation ranging from accidental formats to virus attacks to software malfunctions. Hence Stellar provides the best tools to recover deleted files with over 1,000,000 satisfied customers across 137 countries.
How the File Deletion Process Works?
When you delete a file from your computer (or even from the recycle bin) the file is not actually deleted. Unlike what most people think, the file is not permanantly deleted or dropped from your hard disk. Let’s take an example of a book containing 50 pages. Suppose when you delete the page 25, assume that only the entry in the index which points to the page 25 is deleted and not actually the page 25 itself. Likewise when you delete a file from your hard disk, only the pointer which points to this file is removed and not actually the file itself. This file still exists intact and is 100% possible to recover it back in the original condition. In this condition the file becomes invisible and hence appears to have deleted.
What are the Chances of Recovering my Files Back?
Since the operating system doesn’t immediately re-use the space from the deleted files, it is most certainly possible to recover the deleted files back in 100% original condition. It may take up a very long time for those files to be completely deleted since the modern hard disks have ample capacity. Hence the chances are too less that the space from the deleted files are re-used immediately. So, it is really worth to try out the file recovery softwares like Stellar Data Recovery for Windows or Stellar Data Recover for Mac. Some files are reported to have recovered even after years of it’s deletion. However for the best results, it is recommended that you use the file recovery software as immediately as possible to recover your files.
