Question about Frigidaire PLCF489AC Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Slow heating and control panel clicking

Both electric ovens suddenly stopped heating up at their normal speed and now take up to 45 minutes to get to 300. The gas stove top works fine. This is now accompanied by an intermittent "click-click" coming from the control panel. Could this be a breaker or fuse problem? Anything else? All help is appreciated!

Re: Slow heating and control panel clicking

I have a similar problem with my Frigidaire FAM156R1A Air conditioner. The unit is stuck on a temp setting and occasionally makes a beeping sound. Repair tech came out and told me the control panel was broken and that this is a common problem. I wrote more detail here:

The oven will only heat to about 240 degrees. It's very slow to preheat and doesn't seem to get above 240 degrees in about 45 minutes.

The most likely cause is the bake element. The floor of the oven is removable exposing the element (74008693) It will likely be visibly broken.

Fan stays on long after oven is shut off in brand new viking daul fuel range. It's been on now for 45 minutes. All controls are on OFF.

loads of ovens do this. It's a pain, especially if you eat in the kitchen. If you switch the appliance off and on at the wall it usually stops it. Why the fan stays on, god knows. pointless.

Whirlpool oven

When I had a similar problem, the door wouldn't unlock even after unplugging, waiting 30 minutes, and plugging the oven back in. I finally had to manually unlock the oven by turning the lock latch motor myself.

Here's a good page that describes what the lock latch motor looks like and where it's located. Of course, there is 220V current running around inside there, so please unplug before removing the back access cover and put it back on before plugging the oven back in.

My symptoms:
  • Oven failed to complete auto-clean cycle.
  • Oven started beeping; control panel showed FSE 1
  • About a minute after plugging in, oven started beeping and displaying FSE 1 again
Once I unlocked the door manually and plugged back in, the oven started behaving normally.
