If water is coming out on the floor from your Comfort Site dehumidifier even when the bucket is not overflowing, there may be a few possible causes for this issue:
Improper Placement of the Bucket: Ensure that the bucket is correctly positioned and inserted into the dehumidifier. Make sure it is securely in place, and the water outlet on the bucket is aligned with the dehumidifier's drainage system. If the bucket is not properly seated or aligned, it can result in water leakage.
Bucket Seal or Gasket: Check the bucket's seal or gasket for any signs of damage, wear, or misalignment. If the seal is compromised or not making proper contact with the dehumidifier's body, water can escape and leak onto the floor. Clean the seal and ensure it is free from debris or obstructions. If necessary, replace the seal or gasket with a compatible replacement part.
Drainage Hose Connection: Some dehumidifiers have the option to connect a drainage hose directly to the unit for continuous draining. If a drainage hose is connected, make sure it is securely attached and there are no leaks or loose connections along the hose. Ensure that the other end of the hose is properly directed into a drain or receptacle.
Internal Drainage System: The dehumidifier's internal drainage system, including the collection tray or drain pan, may be clogged or blocked. Remove the bucket and inspect the drainage area for any debris, buildup, or blockages. Clean the drainage system thoroughly, ensuring that water can flow freely from the collection tray into the bucket without any obstructions.
Check for Excessive Humidity: If the dehumidifier is operating in an area with extremely high humidity levels, it may struggle to remove moisture effectively. This can result in excessive condensation or water buildup that leads to leakage. Consider using additional dehumidification methods or addressing the underlying humidity issue in the space.
If the issue persists after checking these potential causes, it is advisable to consult the user manual for your specific Comfort Site dehumidifier or contact the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or offer guidance based on their knowledge of the product.
First check that the opening from bucket to hose is clear of obstructions. If you used a washing machine hose and the filter screen is still in the end of the hose, then replace the screen with an ordinary hose gasket.
A gel-like growth can develop in the drain hose. Drain the bucket. Remove the hose and connect it to an outdoor faucet to flush the hose. Reconnect the hose using an ordinary hose gasket.
If the hose is connected to the tap on the drain pan/bucket, did you knock out the center of the hose connection on the bucket? If you didn't that's the problem. If that's not where your hose connection is located, do not put the bucket back in. It triggers the unit to fill the bucket and not use the hose drain. Keep in mind the hose must remain lower than the connection on the dehumidifier to drain properly.
The operation a dehumidifier is based on the amount of humidity, the house or room where you have it placed. If the humid level is low and you have the humidifier set on a low extraction setting, there would be little to no water in the bucket. However, if you have all the settings correct and you still don't get water in the bucket, the top 2 reasons for this are: The Filter needs cleaning and # 2 the drain tube or hole is clogged. The solution for cleaning the filter is a no brainer. The solution for unclogging the drain tube or hole is not that difficult. You will need a 12" to 20" long Plastic Zip Tie (or something similar, but no wire coat hangers), that's small enough to go through the drain tube or hole. When you remove the bucket look up and into the compartment that the bucket came out of and you will see the drain tube or drain hole. Slowly and carefully push the zip tie into the hole and continue to work it into the hole until you reach the curve in the tubing. This is the tricky part. Carefully and gently work it past the curve and about 4" more. Then start removing the Zip Tie as you slowly rotate it. This will dislodge any clogs. As you continue to pull it out, be prepared for water to follow it. If you have water draining out, your problem is solved.
If none of the above solved your problem, the condenser unit may be low on refrigerant. In which case, you will need a pro to service it.
Please try the following:
1) Remove the bucket.
2) You will notice a round outlet/spout where the water drips from into the bucket.
3) Remove the plug from the backside of the unit (you will now see a hole to the bucket area).
4) Feed a hose through the hole from the back and attach the end of the hose to the round outlet/spout.
5) Place the other end of the hose on a floor drain outlet.
6) Put the bucket back into the unit.
When the unit is turned on, the water will now flow through the hose instead (into the floor drain). When you want to use the bucket again to capture the water, you will need to remove the hose.
Remove the drain bucket. on the top there are two pieces that can be removed just by taking them out. they are just laying in there. 1 is the brush the other is the "drain tube insert" it is a plastic tube and has a threaded fitting on one end. take your garden hose with a female connector on one end just like you were going to install on your spicket outside of your house and connect it to the threaded end of the "drain tube insert" make sure you knockout the round plastic drain plug cover hole located in the back of the unit (it is behind where your power cord was stored) it has three tabs to break. remove drain bucket. take the drain tube with hose attatched and insert it into the drain plug hole in the back and attach it onto the drain outlet (the drain outlet is inside the drain bucket side at the top it looks like an elbow fitting) push the tube so that the flap with the arrow is flush with the back. once you get the "drain tube insert" almost all the way flush with the back -->if you look inside the drain bucket side you will see where it fits over the drain outlet
Check the point on the tank (Bucket) where the hose connects to. Make sure there is no obstruction at the outlet of the bucket to the hose connection. Next make sure the hose has no kinks or no loops that may trap air to the drain. If necessary for a long run to the place of drainage raise the dehumidifier to a higher level for better drainage.
