Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Maytag My Maytag dishwasher is leaking from the bottom. It is a mdbh940aww. it was never used before. It was wrapped in the plastic wrap when I bought the house in 2005. Now the old one just went and I want to put this one in. It fit nicely, works great but leaks all over the floor. It is level and I check most of the parts. I put a mirror underneath and it looks like the rubber thing isnt looking too good. Do I replace this? If so how?

I also had a mdbh940aww that leaked from underneath. You need to check out where the water is leaking from. Unscrew and remove the bottom front panel so you can view under the dishwasher. Start up the dishwasher and using a flashlight see where the water is dripping from.. Obviously don't touch any wires nor even the leaking water while it is live. If it is coming out of the motor then you probably have a bad WASH MOTOR SEAL and you will need to buy a WASH MOTOR SEAL KIT (Seal and Chopper Kit) ... I think I paid $25. I noticed that they re-engineered the replacement part out of metal to replace the original plastic part which strips. So I replaced the seal kit which solved the leak problem... but I still have some residue on glasses. It may be due to a small rip in the filter material on the FILTER/FLOWPLATE ASSEMBLY (Accumulator)... that I noticed... a $35 part... I am going to take mine back apart and see if I can glue the rip with some silicone sealant. You can view the schematic and get parts at partselect.com although I think I ordered from a cheaper store but I cannot remember what that was. Goodluck!

What do the error codes F3 E2 mean on my Maytag 2000 series front load washing machine?

F3 E2 is an indication of a water temperature sensor (NTC) error, or heating circuit failure. Check the water temperature sensor and check connections to the water temperature sensor.

Several people having this error needed to repair one of the wires to the sensor. - "There were 2 black wires that go to the water temperature sensor. The wires passed through 2 tie wraps that bonded them to a flange off the bottom of the washer drum. They were wrapped with electric tape inside the tie wrap. Prior to joining the bundle of wires that went to the motor, there was one more tie wrap around the 2 black wires. At this tie wrap there was no electric tape to pad between the wires and the tie wraps. One of the wires was nearly severed.
I replaced the wires. Tie wraps should not be used. They are often too tight and crush wires. Especially in a device that inherently has LOTS of motion."

Dishwasher leak

leaks on washers are sometimes hard to find, so i'll tell you the two most common causes of washer leaks ive come across :
(1) DOOR SEALS these rubber seals don't last forever and if you use hard water to wash or heavy chlorinated they go fast , if you can pinch the rubber (hard) with your fingers and it doesn't relax back to normal in two seconds or less then yes its bad
(2) PUMP SEALS the water pumps are usually located in center of bottom of washer with a strong flashlight you see water dripping from center of unit (bottom) then chances are you have a bad pump seal
also i have found that using the new detergent packs of some brands cause pump seals to go as the plastic packs don't dissolve completely and get wrapped around pump shaft

Dishwasher is not cleaning, is there a diagram available to inspect/replace filter, check water pump, etc.

Take the dish rack out. look at the back bottom of the dishwasher. you will most likely see a screen. Check if there is food, or a toothpick or a thin sheet of plastic wrap covering the screen. Remove it. Clean the screen and bottom of the dishwasher of any debris. Put the rack back in. Load the dishwasher, put in the soap and turn it on. You should have nice clean dishes.

I bought my son a bike and want to wrap it for his birthday but there is no way I can use that much wrapping paper. Any ideas how to give him something he can unwrap?

When I buy oversized gifts for my kids I don't even try and wrap them. What I do is buy a cheap mini version ie a small plastic hand size bike and wrap it up. You can tell them it's a clue....or you can give a clue as to where they will find the 'real' gift ie under the stairs or outside the front door.

I've found that this actually adds to the excitement and fun of opening presents.

The supply water connection on the bottom of the dishwasher has an ever so slight leak. Not the compression part, but the larger connection that goes directly into the dishwasher. The directions say not to...

Hello, W/D here.
Sometimes you just have to pull the fitting back out, and start again. That's about where we are now. Shut the water off, disconnect the supply line and remove the fitting from the dishwasher. Clean the old teflon off of the fitting and the connection on the dishwasher. While holding the fitting in your left hand, with the threads facing right, wrap the threads, going over the top away from you, three wraps.
Then re-install. Too loose would be movable by hand, and too tight would be approaching "I can't go any further". Somewhere in between, there's a point where the fitting gets firm, and you can feel that it's getting tighter. At that point, get it into the correct position for installing your supply line. What you don't want is to have to make nearly another full rotation of the fitting to get it into position if it's nearly there before that. You don't want it so tight that you might crack the fitting or the connection on the dishwasher. Just take your time, work by feel, and gauge where the fitting needs to be, balanced against how tight you want it.
Best regards, --W/D--

My dishwasher electrolux esl6115 is leaking from the bottom of the door during the cycle.

My dishwasher electrolux built in unit was leaking, turned out to be the plastic nut inside on right hand side where water feeds the top rotar was loose. I actually took side off and found it running down inside and flooding out the feet and sides. Solution in my case was to wrap PTFE around the threaded section and rescrew nuton tightly..Problem solved. Simples.
