Radio is stucked in PROTECT MODE

I'm from Brazil and this radio/cd is brand new here, and people does not know how to fix. The technician says that he needs the electronic circuit sheet/diagram but I can't find it on the internet. Does anybody havet it or know where can I find it? Do you know how to fix it ? (it seems that some integrated circuited burned during the installation) tks Renan

I know that there is an IC burned, a local Brazilian technician already told me. But the radio is brand new in Brazil and nobody has a diagram of the circuits. We need this to troubleshoot the radio, find the deffective component and replace it. Not even kenwood in Brazil kas it.
I would appreciatte if somebody send it to me.

    Hi Spark,
In fact I need the circuit diagram, the manual I have. We tested the radio in a testbed and if keeps the protect mode. Maybe the radio burned when they tried to install due to a speaker wire short circuit. Without the circuit diagram the technician cannot test and troubleshoot the radio to find the defective component.

This manual is available for download at getmanual.com But do you completely believe your technician? Are you sure it's not a speaker wire short circuit?

Sorry renan I do mean the service manual (which does contain the diagram) is available at getmanual.com

Thanks for the additional information renan, please give as much information as possible, this helps us at FixYa answer your problem quicker.

The radio shows protection mode in a test bed this rules out the short circuit in the speaker leads in the car.

So thanks for the vote of confidence likha, but you are probably right in your first reply.

If your radio is in protect mode, you have defective parts in the amplifier section! or other section circuit! maybe you have shorted or leakage parts! like power transistor.. capacitors! thats why your radio is in protect mode!

Sir, i am a technician i have a jvc car mp3 model no.415 my cd player is now in protected how to remove this problem which part diffective please give me solution

First, check all speakers and speaker wires for shorts and/or grounds. If they all check out fine, try pressing the reset switch if there is one. If there is no reset switch, try disconnecting power to the radio for a few seconds. If the radio still remains in protect mode, chances are you probably have a blown output ic or voltage regulator ic.

I have a kenwood it says,kdc-mp142 and all of a sudden it just says protect. it wont do anything

The Kenwood radio will generally give a "PROTECT" error if the amp or receiver is being overloaded. This may mean that some of your wiring may have gotten frayed, one of your speakers isn't putting out the right voltage, or the receiver has decided to go bad. Make sure all of your connections in the back of the radio are solid and not frayed. If that's not the problem, try running each of the speakers one at a time. If one causes the radio to go into protect mode, that's your culprit.
If neither of these are the issue and the radio decides to stay in "protect" mode, your receiver may have seen better days and may need a replacement.

My kenwood problem

Password is working, but the radio seems to be going into protect mode and shutting down as soon as the main power to the radio is activated. This could be a bad power amp IC inside the radio or some other bad part causing it. No way to know for sure unless it can be put on a workbench and do some troubleshooting with a multimeter. But the most likely problem is the amp IC.

Let me know if you need any further help. If you are able to do any testing of the radio with a multimeter you would be best served to take it to a service center and let a technician look at it and give you an estimate for the repair.

"Protect" message

It is most likely an amplifier problem. I had this problem before. It went into "Protect" mode and shut down. When I turned it back on, my left channel speakers made a buzzing noise and did the same thing again. I got it diagnosed at an electronics repair shop and they found that the two STK amplifier IC's were bad. One is about $106 and the second one is about $78. I got it fixed for about $200 and works basically like new again.
