Hard drives will not get erased by a simple reboot. With that said, I would like to clarify that if you have some kind of hardware issue or virus then maybe, but under normal circumstances, no you should not wipe your laptop by simply rebooting it.

Good luck

Not really. if you do too many hard resets on the computer it could eventually lead to hard drive failure because the seek heads are not parked before the drive is shut down. however, a few times here and there are definitely not going to wipe a hard drive.

I have a eMachine t5246. My hard drive went bad, very bad, couldn't get it to even get wiped out so. my eMachine disc won't start up. It is the operating disc but every time it says install and...

If the hard drive failed you will first need to replace it with a working hard drive. One that is done, power on the computer with the recovery disc is the drive and enter setup. It should say something like press F9 or F10 for Setup. Look through the menus for "Boot Order", make sure your CD/DVD drive is above hard drive. Save the changes and reboot, you should get a message "Press any key to boot to disc" or something similar, do so, and follow the prompts to re-install windows.

Need to factory set my easynote tk due to accidental hard drive erasure

You will need a backup recovery disc to reload your operational system. Since the hard drive has been wiped clean there is no other way to do this.

Not loading, message says reboot with media disc. What does this mean, I do not have a media disc

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

Need a boot disc for my 2005 desktop I wiped the hard drive with SecurErase, when I tried to reboot only COMPAC comes up on the screen.

If you have wiped the HDD then it no longer has an OS installed and you would need to purchase one if you wanted to use Windows (whatever flavour).

You can however use a Linux system which is free. There are several different versions of Linux but I recommend you try this one

Hello,
You should use the installation CD to install the diagnostic tools as a boot option. Look also in programs folder for same thing.

Hope it helps.

I didnt get a boot disc with my computer and would like to make a copy

On a new computer that didn't come with a reboot disk, they create a hidden partition on the hard drive to store this info. Provided that the hard drive has NEVER been re-formatted, it will still be there. Some manufatuers allow you to make a boot disk, others don't, in either case they do allow you to wipe your system and re-install their software at bootup. Hope this helps.

Useing acer recovery discs

turn off your pc and boot up with the disk in the drive. watch the screen and when it says (boot from cd press any key) do it if it dosent say that. reboot and get into the bios and change the boot order so the disk drive is before the hard drive, save changes and reboot. than press a key when it asks
