PC won't boot on customn built machine

II built the pc 4yrs ago with no problems till 2 months ago. the pc would 'hang' on boot up checking the memory. and things started to go slower and slower until they stopped altogether. I increased the memory from 512 to 1gig changed the HD. I get no beeps from POST on starting. The motherboard and pc fans switch on the cd, dvd, tape driver floppy all indicate there's power supply. I have changed the HD x2 and video card. don't know what else to try. anyone help out? ould apreciate so much. got a lot of famlily stuff on the hd and no not backed up to any other media - fool me!

Fix this problem by:

-- cleaning system junk
-- optimizing computer services
-- optimizing internet
-- repairing registry
-- defraging registry
-- clearing browsers junk

do these things with some secure tool such as Intel Software Partner Reginout.

You could buy a decent PC brand new for about $300 and then just slave the other HD so that you can at least get your stuff off of it. I recently purchased a PC ,320 gig HD ,AMD 64 core 2 duo, 2 gigs of ram with Vista and a 17" HD monitor for $499 so I can't see spending major money on service when you can get a new one and then do it yourself.

Sounds your motherboard is gone, my solution to you is to remove the hard drive, place it on another computer as a secondary drive or slave and go into my computer and you will see your hard drive there as secondary ,, now you can go in to it and save your data to a disk or do a back up onto a cd. please advice.

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS ( operating system) or a virus in the OS. Also it is possible that the back up( CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect. In this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card. If not the OS is a suspect.

If the PC does not BOOT at all then the mother board or the memory card interface / connectors must be checked /cleaned and reset.

However if the PC tends to work slower and occasionally hanging when a program is being executed then you might have to install the OS once again. Install the OS and then an antivirus before the drivers of the PC is installed.

Possible that PC is hanging up on cold start it is possible that few capacitors are weak in the motherboard. To confirm on this use a hair dryer to blow hot air into the motherboard . If the PC boots and starts up well you must centralise the job to come to suspected part.Checnge the capcitors and clear any leak or smear of dirt on the board.

Also it is possible that the back up( CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect or the connectors. remove clean and reset . Alos in this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card.

Abit has released an updated BIOS for the IC7-MAX3 motherboard which fixes quite a few issues with your motherboard including one that can cause the system to hang with certain memory modules. hello miss sally, hi, the operating system error may be caused by a faulty hard disk or hard disk connection cable, and the hanging thing is caused by a faulty memory module, so check then out first, swap a new memory module, and for your hard drive, take it out from your laptop and use a PC to test the drive (applicable only if your hard drive is sata.)

HP COMPAQ NX6110 LAPTOP HANGS WHEN BOOTING, BUT WHEN PRESSED AROUND THE MOUSE PAD OR HARD DISK AREA IT WORKS , BUT HANGS AGAIN LATER

It seems that the hard drive or the memory module is not seated properly and hence after pressing on the area below keyboard it gets released.
You can try following things.
Remove and reseat the Hard drive.
And remove and reseat the Memory.
Try to power on the laptop again.
If is getting hang again then you may need to do the HDD self test and memory test built into BIOS.

Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server problem

I had the same thing happen in a 600SC about a month ago.
Replaced the memory, and it fixed the problem.

It did the same hang. Would run fine for any where from a hour to 3 hours, and then quit (hang). And I got the same message. Talk to them and it was a short in the memory module, so some times it would read the entire stick, other times it would "not see it", and that would lock the OS.

Well send it in for warranty and then sell it - It sounds like a flaky motherboard to me by the symptoms - Generally speaking if you dont even get a beep without any RAM installed then the motherboard is probably bad.
