Firstly take the card out and put it into a reader on your comp. it may have a read-write error. so see if it sill behaves normally, and if it does download the picks onto your HDD or another storage device.if the card is damaged a dameon (linux) or a pop-up word bubble (xp) vista will say "this device is defective etc... now if it is defective, i suggest getting the cam checked. however if the card is behaving normally and you have backed up all the photos and media on it clear the card. now open the cams battery bay and take the battery out, pushing the on button, now clears the capacitors of charge and resets some of the IC's now put the battery back looking too for battery problems, like deformity, heat, leakage if there is none, place the batt back in and the card back in. now turn the camera on, hopefully it should go through it usual startup procedure, then cycle through functions until you are happy all is well. it could have simple been that the screen saver did not start properly because of a flat batt or other instance. good luck

Hi! I am having Fujifilm S1000fd digital camera. I have two issues. First one is with SD Card. Just yesterday i were having difficulty of viewing some pictures in the camera. At one zoom knob doesnt work ...

The zoom button is not for browsing the pictures.
Use the 4-way switch to browse the pictures.
It appears that there is something wrong with your SD card. Format the card in the camera before using it again. Make sure you have saved all images to the computer before formatting.

You have a faulty battery. Try cleaning the contacts on both the batteries and the charger.

Hi. Went to shoot using Live View and the picture started to break up on the screen and the few pictures I've taken are monochrome with green bits. Help!

Have you tried a new/different memory card and formatted that card within the camera? It could be that the card is corrupt...

I downloading my pictures to my pc. I went back to view them on camera and now some photos says picture error. it is a black screen and an orange exclamation point. please advise

once you have moved all the pictures to your computer make sure to disconnect your camera. no need to keep going back and forth.
on your camera try turning it off, pulling the battery out for a couple of minutes. insert battery. turn on. wait until it is fully on, navigate to view pictures.
if black screen is still present you might have zapped your camera while connecting and disconnecting the wire to the computer repeatedly.

Transferring pictures

Once the camera is attached to the computer via USB cable, windows explorer treats the camera card just like another hard drive. the same goes if the camera card is inserted into a card reader.

Because of this, the camera can be seen as a listed hard drive, (C:), (D:), (E:)..... With windows explorer open view "Computer", listing all existing drives, plug your usb cable into the computer and the camera. When you turn on your camera, AutoPlay begins. Choices range from import pictures to viewing pictures with whatever programs are loaded into you computer.

If not AutoPlay then just use Windows Explorer. The Camera will appear as "Removable Disk (K:) [(K:) is on my computer]. Opening this disk will show subdirectories "DCIM" and 100OLYMP. Your pictures are in 100OLYMP. They can be higlighted and drug into the folder of your choice on your computer.

View with windows media center, etc. or download Google's free PICASA 3. It can also download ("Import") your pictures.

good luck

File error

I have seen this problem with generic SD memory cards so it could be a faulty memory stick.  Try to get a replacement.  If you want to try to recover the pictures you have taken, I suggest Zero Assumption Recovery (Google for it). Check to see if it is compatible with your camera before downloading.

Viewing photos on camera after downloading

your memory card has a virus! try formatting using camera. make it a habit that whenever you reinsert the memory card in your camera format it first before taking shots, this will erase everything including virus!
