Question about RCA F36690BC 36" TV

1 Answer

Can't recieve any stations

Just moved, plugged tv in, programed everything from the panel in front of tv, went through channel search everything was fine, set clock, picture, all was good, the only thing missing was my remote, I finally found the remote, put new batteries in, went to turn on tv, and whatever button I hit, I lost everything, I cant pick up any signal, no stations at all, I went through setup probably a thousand times, I even plugged in another tv to the cable and it is fine. Very frustrated, must have spent 5 hours yesterday fooling around with it, it has something to do with the remote, this remote also can be programmed to a dvd, vcr, etc, which is the way it was programmed before we moved, now it is just the tv, no vcr/dvd. I lost my manual, so I dont know if there is something that I can reset back, I dont know, if anyone can help. I would greatly appreciate it.Thank you. Jim

    hello,

thank you for your advice, I have already unplugged the tv and let it sit, still the same. It has something to do with the way that remote was programed, I'm almost certain, the remote can still work the tv on/off, go through set up, but it is not picking up the signal for the cable

the cable goes right to the set, I had already plugged another TV there, and it is fine, no picture, just all snow, when I hit menu, that is clear and I can go through all the set ups, when I go to signal, most of the time I have to reset it because it is on uhf

The remote would need to reprogrammed for the other devices. It loses its programming when the batteries are replaced. There may be a model number on the back of the remote or under the battery cover. With that information you can probably find the instructions on the manufacturer's website. Or you can purchase another remote if all else fails. They're pretty inexpensive.

There's nothing the remote can do that would affect your TV unless you hit one of the buttons, possibly switching to another input. Unplug the set and let it sit a few minutes. Plug it back in and go through the initial setup again. This should bring everything back to normal for you.

If you're still having problems, please post a followup comment and I'll try to help more.

    Okay...

How do you have the cable connected to the set? What input are you using? Do you have a cable box or does the cable go right to the set? What does the screen show through all of this? Snow? Light screen but nothing else? What about channel numbers or other on screen display?

Sorry for all the questions. Again, it's not possible for the remote to do anything to the set except control a setting change. This job was much easier when I went to the home and could see for myself what was happening.

Will not find digital tv stations

Hi,

I'll be glad to assist you in locating the digital channels in the TV.
Make sure that the Cable or Antenna Input is connected to the TV. The Cable and Antenna input can be connected to the VHF/UHF Input on the TV. The TV can search for the channels only if the VHF/UHF/CABLE input is connected to the TV. If you're connecting the Cable box or the Satellite Receiver to the Video or HDMI inputs on the TV, then it is not require to auto program the TV. Here, the auto program may be required in the cable box.
To Auto Program the TV, select the Manual Channel Search option from the Menu option and then select the CABLE, AIR or Digital Add-On option depends on the connection. The Digital Add-On option adds any new digital channels that are found to the Channel Scan Database.
This should resolve the issue. Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance.
Thanks for contacting FixYa.

Keep loseing local channels , change antenna 4times allways resetting channels gain and lose

Hi, I may have the answer for you. Your (TV) is very sensative to off air stations (anntena).
If you are near a cell tower or Power lines your TV tuner will have a harder time finding anything.
You may need to switch to Cable or dish to recieve anything worth watching. Most off air channels
will fade away because of DTV. If you have a chance Google (digital TV) for your search.
Good luck...

Just bought tv and can't figure out how to run channel auto scan??? we did do it but where is this button to fininsh the process???Having major problems programming the tv

the programming should be automatic...it will seek the channels and put the active stations into memory.
when it is done searching it will come back to a channel...this can take up to 30 to do because there are several TV broadcast bands it has to look through now.
as a last resort, unplug it (power) wait a few seconds , then plug it back in and start all over (reboot)

My son pressed something and now some channels aren't working how do I reset the tv?? So I can get the channels back, example channel 4 isn't coming on!

First you could try pulling out the plug to the tv from the wall outlet and leave it out for ten minutes or so and then plug it back in and turn the tv back on(if you havn't done that already). this might reset the tv to when you first got it. you might have to adjust anything you have done to the tv. for example; fixing the color, tint, contrast etc.
The next thing you could try is, "auto channel programing". This searches for all tv stations that work.

Using an over the air antenna I get all channels but one.

I experience the same thing on a day to day basis. The key, is location of the antenna. Depending on where your antenna is located, determines if u can recieve local CBS analog v. digitial. I actually tried sticking aluminum foil to my old rabbit ear antenna legs. to my surprise, I even picked up digital channel I never knew existed. Besides, when the signal transmit in Digital, u are already prepared. Your local CBS afilliate station will be accesable on maybe 2 or 3 channels. example:

Channel 10 analog

Channel 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 digital HD will all broadcast the same programming.

hope this helps u out.

Programming my rca universal remote for basic cable the stations wont turn

I can only suggest that you Double check you have the connections correctly set ie. coax ariel to ,(dvd /digi box reciever ect...)
Also check again (& i know this is state the obvious)
your tv manual. IF you havent a manual do a google search for your tv (make & model) & search for a manual.

Ive have had a simmular experience when programming channels to a Vid-Recorder & when i finished the channels dissapeared.

I realised I didnt have the video set to the correct channel with the tv usually channel 9 or the highest channel on the tv.
So i waisted a good half hour for nothing.

Auto installation should search for local tv stations, or add new channels, then it will search for new ones.
