Re: monitor N taskbar

You might try to blow out the heat sink/fan for the processor with some canned air. It's possible that the lcd is having issues (backlight/inverter. How long does the lcd work normally before it goes bad? thanks

Why do i have an intermittent problem with my laptop freezing up during startup? startup?

You may have a bug. You may start by going to control panel and see how many programs are trying to start up at the same time. When my laptop does that I normally go to the control panel and stop programs and keep them from turning on at start up. you really dont need all programs to start up at the same time. This may cause freezing and longer times to start at start up.

The volume bar keeps appearing on the middle screen on my laptop hp dv7

My suggestion is to set the 'Start Menu' and 'Notification area' to default settings.

1) Right-click the Start icon and select Properties.
Click Taskbar tab > click 'Customize...' in Motification area' section.
Uncheck 'Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar' (it looks like you have this on)
Click 'Restore default icon behaviors'
test to see if taht fixes the issue.

If all is OK, Re-check the 'Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar' if you like and test again.

I hope this helps.

My icon for the battery power monitor has dissapeared from my taskbar can you help me get it back please

Do you have Windows 7? If so, you can right-click on the bottom right corner of your desktop (try right-clicking the time/date), where the icons for volume control, wireless, battery, etc... should be and select Properties. You should then see a screen where you can turn on/off the icons/notifications for battery power (sometimes my volume control disappears and i have to do this.
Otherwise you can go here, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Notification Area Icons and you should find the same thing. Then just turn on your battery power icon/notifications.
Hope this helps.

Screen is blank

Its an easy fix but not one you want to do. Go to the store and buy a new one. Ok that might be a little premature, 99% of the time liquid spill means bad motherboard and keyboard. Between buying a new mobo and keyboard and having it installed its cheaper to buy a new system. you can try and plug it into an external monitor to see if you can get it to boot. Something I have been planning on trying myself is putting the laptop in a bag of rice and sealing it for a few days. this absorbs water and it has a shot to work in theory. be sure to wrap the laptop in paper towels or something to keep the rice from getting into the laptop.

Taskbar and start menu disappear

Move the mouse to the bottom of the screen to make the taskbar reappear. If you want this to display at all times, right-click on any blank area of the taskbar and select Properties. Clear the checkbox next to Auto-hide the taskbar.
