Question about Canon PowerShot A400 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Canon Power Shot A400 will only work with original Canon SD card

The camera works fine as long as I use the original Canon SD card which has very limited capacity. I tried several other "compatible" cards and I get the memory card error. When I try to format, the camera turns itself off every time. As soon as I put the original card back in the camera, there is no problem. Can I only use Canon SD card with this camera?

Thanks!

Make sure you are using an SD card and not an SDHC card. The SDHC protocol is newer than your camera, and your camera does not support it. SD cards have capacities up to 2 GB. Your camera should work properly with any SD or MMC card.

Hi! ! have a problem about my digital Canon powershot A400. My problem is How to open the unlocked card always appeared..i dnt know what happened i cant take a shot. Please help me to back in...

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I lost my Canon Download CD for Canon Camera Power Shot Model: A400. S/N: 9146100159. I cannot transfer pictures from my camera to computer. Please help

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Put new optima sd hc memory card in screen says memory card error

Sorry but the A400 was designed well before the SDHC format came out. Your camera can only use standard SD cards (2GB or less).

I want to know how to unlock a camera memory card. i have a cannon power shot A520

Remove the SD card from the camera. Slide the tiny switch on the side of the card to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card in the camera. But if you've already tried this, see this link for additional troubleshooting tips for this problem..

How do you unlock the memory card

If your using an SD card you might need to slide the lever on the side of the actual memory card itself. The little lever is a hardware lock that prevents it to be written to or files to be deleted from it.

Have lost manual for canon power shot A400 tried to insert new memory card (scan disc SDHC card 4gb) it it comes up with an error reading on camera screen? Thank you in adv for any help.

Love the A400, it's one of my all-time favorite Canon P&S cameras. But sorry to say your camera will not understand SDHC cards. This format came out well after the A400 was designed. The max memory the A400 can use is a 2GB standard SD card, no higher. Fortunately, these are very inexpensive these days, and run about $6 with shipping:
