SOURCE: Electric Hedge trimmer will not cut

more than likely it damaged the inner gears or drive pins that make the blades reciprocate and need replaced. if you would like instructions to repair it yourself i will send you them or you can take it to a service center.

SOURCE: black and decker hedge trimmer GT 249

cut the bad part out, then strip the outer insulation off carefully as not to knick the inner insulation, then strip off all wire ends appx 3/4" to 1" and twist the black wire to the other black wire and tape securely so no bare wires are showing, then do the same with the white/white wires and then green/green ground wires and finally tape the whole thing to keep out moisture with electrical tape from most hardware/d.i.y. stores

SOURCE: I have a 22inch Craftsman Hedge Trimmer, Model No.

The likely issue is the gear pin has been sheared. The part is no longer available from Craftsman. (P/N from sears: 616255-001)

I had a similar issue with a similar electric trimmer. I removed the old pin and used a split pin and ground it down to the proper size. It's now worked for about 2 years just fine. This requires complete dis-assembly.

I accidently cut the electrical cord while using the black and Decker hedge trimmer TR116, now its not starting.

Did it cut it all the way through.? Have you repaired it? Has it been repaired adequately? Check it hasn't blown the fuse in the plug when it was cut, protecting the circuit.

The cable snapped. I have joined the snapped cable but it wont start. Is there a fuse to replace?

I understand that hedge trimmers in particular Bosch have safety cut off housed inside the machine ,,so even if you repair a cut cable the trimmer will not restart unless returned to bosch for repair ,,,,fortunately i took out insurance when purchasing and simply took back to store for replacement ...

Accidently cut cable on GT450 hedge trimmer. I opened up trimmer, replaced cable and closed it up. Now it won't work. Do you have any troubleshooting tips for this??

Me too - I rewired the cable into the junction inside the unit and after reassembly it stopped working. I've narrowed it down to the internal switch(es). There's a black and a red alongside one another. When pressed together - no power. When only the red is pressed - power. But the orange, external handle press engages them both at the same time and I can't see how to avoid this after it's back together
Thanks, Matt

Cut Cable on Bosch Hedge Trimmer.

Been there. Done that. Now it is up to the "expert" to go back over the rewire job and find what's wrong and fix it. Oh yeah, I once used my hedge trimmer to shorten a brand new extension cord!

I cut through the cord by accident, can I buy a replacement wire?

If you are handy, you can do this. Most trimmers some with a very short cord to which you are expected to attach a extension cord. What exactly did you cut? If the short cord that may have come with it ... disassemble the body of the machine and reconnect a shorter (the one you cut) cord. If it was the extension, that is easy. New ends available ar your hardware store.

If there is a trick part,it is in reassembly. Pay attention to how it was configured when you took it apart.

hope this helps

Trimmer safety problem

# Keep all people and animals away from the area you're working in # Hold the hedge trimmer correctly using both hands # Make sure the hedge trimmer's switched off and idle before attempting to remove any jammed cuttings # Wear protective clothing including heavy-duty footwear and safety goggles to protect your eyes from flying cuttings # Electric hedge trimmers: Don't use in wet weather. Keep the cable well away from where you are cutting and check that the socket outlet has working RCD protection # Read the manufacturer's instructions before use
