Panel flashing, ice door opening and closing constantly

Came home from work today and the display unit on the front is blinking every light and the ice dispenor gate valve is opening and closing by itself. I unplugged it for a few minuites and it worked fine , then after 3-5 minutes it started again. I checked the connection at the top of the door and it was ok.

  • lkennedy Dec 23, 2007

Same here. I guess it is time to call the service company

Same symptoms on Christmas day. I took the front panel off. It seems to be related to the wiring that sense the door switch. When I leave that disconnected, it seems to do OK. Problem is that the water dispenser and ice maker are not working either. I will keep a close eye on it.

I have the same problems. They started last night. The lights are blinking like crazy and the ice flapper won't stop flapping. a paper towel shoved in the ice dispenser let us sleep last night.

same problem but the refrigerator stopped cooling the repair guy replaced board in back of fridge and still didn't fix it. He says the board needs replacing in door also now is he screwing me???

  • Anonymous Jan 20, 2008

It started about 2 am this morning. We finally unplugged the front panel from connection from the top of refrigerator, after checking the sabbath function, cleaning out the icemaker, checking the filter, turning up the temp a couple of degrees....aargh!

  • RonBon Jan 28, 2008

Same problem here also. It started Saturday evening and has been doing it constantly for about 2 days now. The panel will flash and the door will flop for about 20 minutes and stop for about 20 minutes and then start up again. The ice and water dispenser have not worked since this started either. We have tried unplugging the refrigerator for a couple minutes, unplugging the front panel from connection from the top of refrigerator, cleaning out the icemaker, and checking the filter. Nothing has worked. Since the refrigerator is only a little over a year old and it seems like several units are having the same problem, they should have a recall to fix this issue.

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2008

I have the same problem. After the Frig  is reset, the problem will start up as soon as the pump starts again. I hope the Home Depot extended warranty will cover the part and service.

  • CMC40 Apr 27, 2008

I am having the same problem - vaccumed all the dust from under the fridge as well as clean out each and every part I can find or think of and unpluged for a while. Still to no avail the flashing panel and opening and closing ice door are running wild. It is driving me nuts.

  • Mel P Barn May 07, 2008

Great! I am having this issue as well, the ice door flap has gone crazy and opens and closes with the front panel blinking. Unplugged it for some sleep last night and plugged it back in for it just to start back up, then stop briefly. They really do need to recall this and fix the problem at no cost to the consumer.

  • mikhail mich May 26, 2008

Iunplgged it for few minuites and it work fine after 5 minuites started again

  • CLD3 Jun 17, 2008

I also Have the same exact problem as described above. I cycled power several times and the lights finally stopped flashing; however, now the compressor won't operate and the temperature is 51°F at 2am. I agree, its a piece of junk at only 1.5 years old.

I have the same product and problem but according to MayTag my serial number is not one of the refrigerator's that is affected and therefore not covered! WHAT A JOKE! When I exclaimed that yes - my refrigerator was affected - it also had a flashing blinking light and would not keep cold - her exact words were - "well I don't know what to tell you - that serial number is not supposed to have that problem and we will not cover it"

I had the same problem, with this model and it was the high voltage control board located in the rear. Replaced the board and it is working OK. Maytag Part # 12920710 will work on this model and it is 40.00 cheaper than the one it shows when you do a parts search. It will come up 12920709. I checked with Maytag and they said 710 will work..

I also had a problem with the icemaker when I first bought it but the problem cleared on its own. As far as the panel flashing and ice door closing: I called Maytag and even thougn the refrigerator is out of warranty, they are still going to fix it for free. Don't pay for the control board and just call Maytag. They scheduled an appointment within 3 days. The fridge may have some issues but I'm still happy with it.

Never buy the Ice20, what a piece of junk. Maytag has already been out to repair mine 3 times and it isn't even 2 years old yet.

SOURCE: dispensor display going haywire/ ice shoot valve opening by itself

It is not the circuit board in the door, it is the one in the rear of frig. I had the same problem, and replaced the front board with no results, replace the HV board and fixed the problem..

I have a craftsman garage door opener model 139.53674SRT2. It was working fine and we opened it and closed it twice today with no problem. The third time we opened it, it would not close. Both led...

The led blinking 5 times is the code for "RPM sensor or motor overload." The motor has an thermal switch which opens when the motor get hot from running too much. This automatically resets itself after about 15 minutes. This problem can also be caused when the door opens too far and the trolley jams against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. To correct this you need to loosen the chain enough to eliminate the tension against the trolley and then run the motor until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 complete turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Door won't close, blinks 10 times, sensor light yellow

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem or the wiring to them. Nothing else causes this symptom.

Red light on ice maker blinking twice, no ice.

I would assume you are referring to the ice level sensor that is on the center divider. It is normal for it to blink if the door is open. You can test out this theory by holding the flap on the left side closed but not blocking the sensor. The light should go steady. If the ice maker is not working then you either need to change the lazer sensor or the ice maker itself.

There is a switch in the lift gate latch that closes when the gate is closed and turns off the light, this switch is defective, replace it and the light will go off.

The control panel light blinking and ice trap door will not close

Sounds like you need a new display pwb. The flapper for the ice works on a solenoid which is on a little board that is behind the display board. When the power is cut the flapper should close as it is on a spring. I don't believe that there is any worries of it catching fire. Have a tech come and replace the board for you.

Panel flashing, ice door opening and closing constantly

That is a faulty icemaker solenoid switch, or a contact on wiring.
